Chaos as Rey Mysterio defeats MVP ..

Lost in the chaos of Edge’s Royal Rumble return was the all-too-brief appearance of Montel Vontavious Porter, who might have made a run of his own had he not come up against a feasting Brock Lesnar.

The former United States Champion got a proper homecoming tonight, and even though it ended in a loss to Rey Mysterio, the bout was much more even-handed.

For one, MVP was visibly feeling himself, dropping a Ballin’ Elbow on The Ultimate Underdog late in the game and almost — almost — avoiding a 619.

While Mysterio’s signature kick missed MVP’s face, he still caught the returning Superstar in the back, incapacitating MVP long enough to follow up with a springboard splash for the win. Hey, as any baller knows, you win some, you lose some. But he looked good doing it either way

Drew McIntyre challenge Brock Lesnar for WWE title ..

Drew McIntyre has made his choice, and it was seemingly an easy one. Within moments of Raw’s opening, the winner of the 2020 Men’s Royal Rumble Match declared he would use his Rumble victory to challenge WWE Champion Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania, setting up the Scot for the first World Championship opportunity of his career on the biggest possible stage against the most ferocious possible opponent.

McIntyre’s path to WrestleMania is set to be a rocky one. After dispatching Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson in an impromptu Handicap Match-slash-“Claymore Party,” McIntyre found himself ambushed by Lesnar himself, who mercilessly F-5’d McIntyre in a display of dominance that left the Scotsman gasping for air and, perhaps, coming to the realization that he’s about to get exactly what he wants. And he may discover that the only thing more painful than the destination is the journey.

WWE: Charlotte Flair’s opponent – not who you may be thinking ..

Charlotte Flair did not pick a WrestleMania opponent last night on Raw. She’s going to let things simmer a little bit before making her decision.

Brad Shepard reports that WWE is expected to “shake things up.” There is an idea of putting a title on Shayna Baszler before WrestleMania. One thing that is pretty certain is that Charlotte Flair’s WrestleMania opponent might not be who fans think it will be.

A source indicated that #WWE is expected to shake things up and put one of the women’s championships on Shayna Baszler before WrestleMania. They mentioned Charlotte won’t be facing who you may think at WrestleMania either.

Liv Morgan & Lana Trade Shots Before WWE RAW

We’ll have to see what WWE has planned. There are still 68 days until WrestleMania at this point so they can go in any number of directions that fans aren’t expecting.

Charlotte Flair is now scheduled to be at NXT this week and a WrestleMania challenge is expected.

WWE: Andrade suspended for 30 days ..

WWE is taking their wellness policy very seriously. Now there’s another suspension to report as El Idolo popped dirty on a drug test.

Pro Wrestling Sheet reports that Andrade has been suspended for 30 days without pay for his first violation of WWE’s wellness policy.

Sources tell us Andrade – real name Manuel Oropeza – was told of the suspension this morning. It’s unclear what substance he tested positive for at this time.

WWE is expected to announce this suspension soon. Andrade was taken out by Humberto Carrillo with a hammerlock DDT on exposed concrete during Raw this week. Andrade might be “recovering” for about 30 days.

Ryback comments on The Undertaker vs The Sting

It’s been over four years since Sting wrestled a match and since then he’s been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. He officially announced his retirement when he was enshrined but in a recent interview Sting stated he would be open to coming out of retirement for a match with The Undertaker.

A Sting vs. Undertaker match has been talked about for over 20 years now but it’s never come into fruition. Ryback discussed how WWE should approach Sting’s desire to work with Taker when Wrestling Inc’s Raj Giri joined Ryback’s podcast.

“What I do think WWE should do is that if they tease that they are going to do it and have the encounter in the ring and I think let those two tag up together for one last match possibly against two young guys. That is the best-case scenario. Do not put that stress on those two at their age to go out there – we have already seen what happens with two guys [that age],” said Ryback.

He is referencing the Undertaker-Goldberg match at Super ShowDown which was critically panned, in part, due to a concussion suffered by Goldberg. Taker is now a year older and Sting is seven years older than Goldberg and neither WWE nor its fans want to see another disappointing match like the Super ShowDown one.

“I think the Sting and Undertaker match is a little different than the Undertaker vs Bill Goldberg match. We have seen what can go wrong with that and nobody wants to see that with those two. But I think if you give them two smaller young guys and let them have the entrances and have those two teaming together for one last WrestleMania, I think that is a very awesome magical moment. It will give us the best chance to have a decent match and preserve everything with their legacy,” stated Ryback.

Liv Morgan Surprises Lana

As noted earlier at this link, this week’s WWE RAW episode from the XL Center in Hartford, CT saw Liv Morgan return to TV and help Rusev crash the wedding of Lana and Bobby Lashley.

WWE released post-RAW footage of what happened after the final RAW of 2019 went off the air on the USA Network, which you can see embedded above. The post-show segment saw Liv and Rusev continue taunting Lana and throwing cake at her while she threw a fit and cried.

The main segment saw the wedding officiant call on anyone who believed the marriage shouldn’t happen, and that’s when a man came forward to call the wedding a sham, claiming to be Lana’s first husband from when she was 18. This man was played by indie wrestler EJ Risk, according to PWInsider. Risk trains at the Create A Pro school and WrestlePro promotion from RAW Superstar Curt Hawkins and WWE Producer Pat Buck.

The wedding continued after Lashley destroyed the enhancement talent, until a woman came out and claimed to be Lashley’s first wife from when he was in the Army. That woman was played by indie wrestler Karissa Rivera, who is a New Jersey indie wrestler that has worked WWE NXT and SmackDown as an enhancement talent in the past. She lost to Lacey Evans on the November 14, 2018 NXT episode, and later teamed with current AEW star Kris Statlander as The Brooklyn Belles for a loss to then-WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions The IIconics on the April 9, 2019 SmackDown show. You can find Karissa on Twitter at @karissa__rivera.

Several wrestlers from Create A Pro were also booked as wedding guests for the segment, according to PWInsider. The officiant was a local actor.

Wyatt took to his personal Instagram account to send a statement brought up their history including their match in 2014 at the Royal Rumble.

“In 2014 I had one of my favorite bouts of my career against Daniel Bryan at The Royal Rumble. Bryan was red hot, it was his time. He went on to main event WrestleMania and become the champ. Deservedly so, Bryan is without a doubt the best I’ve ever been in the ring with. Fast forward to 2020…… The Fiend vs Daniel Bryan at The Royal Rumble. Bryan is like myself in the fact that no one said, “This is a guy we should build our companies future around!”, the first time we walked in the door

WE had to scratch and claw, outwork, out talk, out perform everyone on the pedestal in front of us. Daniel Bryan is one of the greatest of all time. But this is not his time, it’s mine. This is when my name becomes synonymous with the industry I have given my life to. I want to thank you Bryan for the blood we’ve spilled together over the years. But understand, for me, this is my war worth dying for. The choice isn’t mine to make. Good luck.”

He knocks the fans as bottom-feeders and says they are jealous of his career. Corbin goes on and says Bryan and The Miz are both bad fathers. Corbin says Bryan should just step aside. He says he deserves the next title shot because he’s defeated Roman Reigns twice since he returned, something no one else has done. Corbin’s servants freak out at the sound of Reigns’ music and they drop his caravan, sending Corbin falling to the floor at ringside. Reigns then comes out and unloads, beating Corbin around the ringside area as fans cheer him on. Reigns calls for a Spear at ringside as he waits for Corbin to get up. WWE officials and referees run down and calm Reigns down a bit. Corbin retreats now. His servants are also gone. Reigns stands tall and looks out at the crowd while his music starts back up. Goldberg comments on Bret Harts injury.

Goldberg has had a storied career winning titles in WCW and WWE and “the streak” during his run in WCW.

One of the things that gets brought up countless times in Goldberg’s time in WCW is his short feud with Bret “The Hitman” Hart and the thrust kick that cut Hart’s wrestling career short outside of some infrequent matches earlier this decade. Goldberg was asked on Inside the Ropes about the potential a Goldberg-Hart feud would have had.

“Yeah man. Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart. His name and moniker speak for themselves,” Goldberg said. “A staple in the business. The lineage is unparalleled. It was an honor and a privilege [to work with him], and I very much looked up to him and listened to everything he said.

“At that time, there were many people who gave opinions, and you did not know whether they had their best interest at heart. You don’t know if they had the company’s best interest at heart or your best interest at heart. I still don’t know, and I don’t care because at the end of the day, I can only control what I can control and that is it. I’m not gonna sit and complain about anything. I’m just gonna go out and do my job. I would have loved to have worked a little more with Bret Hart, and I would’ve loved more than anything to not have kicked Bret Hart in the head.”

Hart recently said that he believes that Goldberg should not be in the WWE Hall of Fame due to injuring wrestlers. Goldberg went into detail about what has been said about the incident and talks about how it was merely an accident.

“You know what happened happened. There have been things that have been said on the internet by Bret or by other people that I was malicious or he should not have been in the ring with me, and I’m really sorry man, but if I really wanted to hurt the guy, he wouldn’t have gotten up. No joke,” Goldberg said. “But accidents happen and he was an idol of mine, still is, and that’s one thing I forever be remorseful for is the misplaced kick. There are a couple things in my career that I wished I could have changed. That was one of them. The length that I had an angle with him and my ‘inability to be professional enough’ to pull the kick, but it meant very much to me to be believable. ”

Goldberg also talked about how he wanted to present his character in the ring and how he wanted it to be different than what others were doing.

“I didn’t want to present a character that, no offense, was like a Ric Flair. I don’t run around and be goofy and entertain people like that,” Goldberg said. “I’m a competitor. I’m not an entertainer so if what I do in competing entertains then I’m ecstatic, but I didn’t set out to be a sideshow in any stretch of the imagination. My two to five to 10 minute, I’m stretching it a little bit, matches were basically like throwing people to the lions. It was messy and it was violent. It was over before you knew it. That’s what people loved. It was something different.”

Sting wants the Undertaker at wrestlemania 36

….WWE hall of famer wants to face the dead man.

When Sting finally joined WWE in 2014, almost everyone expected him to finally take on The Undertaker in a match that has been hyped on the internet for quite some time now. However, that was not the case as he faced Triple H at Wrestlemania 31 and then, he was involved in a feud with Seth Rollins. The match was still on the cards but Sting’s journey was sadly cut short in 2015 when he suffered a neck injury during the match against Rollins.

Since then, Sting has been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and he has made a couple of TV appearances but none of them in the capacity of a wrestler. Although the chances look quite slim, the legend was quick to say that he wants to face The Undertaker in WWE and that is a match that he hoped will happen when he was active.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Sting was asked about the one that he has yet to accomplish in his career. “If there was a Taker situation at WrestleMania, I would listen to that phone call. I could get in condition and I could pull it off,” he replied. However, he added quickly that it seem unlikely that the match will happen.“I think my career is done. I still think about the ‘Taker situation every year, but I don’t think it’s going to happen.”

When it comes to WWE, another Hall of Famer can make his return to the ring very soon.Rumours of Edge coming out of retirement have been circulating since he made an appearance at the SummerSlam Kickoff show back in August and gave his signature move ‘spear’ to Elias. It was not his first return to a WWE televised program since 2011. But it was the first time he indulged in in-ring action since 2011, which prompted a section of fans to speculate if the wrestler has been medically cleared to compete.

Now, the recent rumours suggest that Edge has signed a new WWE contract and could be making an appearance at Royal Rumble 2020 in January. Said Johnson of PWInsider, in a report, said: “I was told that Edge has been training hard and he’s in great shape and the feeling in WWE is that he will be back relatively soon and the prevailing rumor is that he will wrestle at WrestleMania and possibly sooner as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble.” He further said “we’ve heard that Edge signed a new deal with WWE that has a pretty nice upside.”

Deontay Wilder Admitted That He Is Open To WWE Stint Following Tyson Fury After His Fight With Braun Strowman In Saudi Arabia.

WBC Heavyweight champion of the world, Deontay Wilder, has admitted that he is open to the possibility of doing professional wrestling just like his rival, Tyson Fury did last month when he fought Braun Strowman in the wee Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabi last month.

Wilder is set to fight with Tyson Fury on the 22nd of February 2020 if Fury beats Luiz Ortiz in a rematch fight next week and says he and his team have been considering entering other fields of contact sports.

Ahead of his next WBC title defence, against Luis Ortiz next weekend, Wilder has made it clear he could enter WWE, and enhance his marketing profile with such a move.

Wilder speaking to PBC, said: “We thought about that years ago for marketing purposes, promotion and stuff like that.

“I’m a man that believes don’t burn no bridges.

“If that opportunity comes about I could see myself jumping off a ladder, doing a flying elbow or something like that.

“I’ve got the character to be able to perform in that environment, it’d be something fun, I wouldn’t turn it down.”

And Wilder could not resist taking a sly dig at Fury when he insisted Ortiz was the tougher opponent – despite the results suggesting otherwise following his draw with Fury and his win over Ortiz.

He said: “Who is tougher in the ring, Luis Ortiz or Tyson Fury? I’d have to say Luis Ortiz.

“Luis Ortiz is a smart fighter, he moves strategically in the ring, he’s a great counter-puncher as well.

“I like his style as a Cuban. Nobody in the top ten wanted to fight Ortiz and they still don’t ‘til this day. But I’m giving him the opportunity and we about to do it again, November 23 baby in Vegas.

“Luis Ortiz’s most dangerous trait is he’s a counter-puncher. He keeps you on the edge of your seat, you’ve definitely gotta really plan what you’re gonna do.

“Have your next move because when you’re punching he’s coming back with something just like that.

“You’ve definitely gotta have co-ordination, you’ve gotta have timing on point and you definitely have to have some type of speed with you.”

Saudi Arabia Host First Women World Wrestling Entertainment Ever As Natalya Battle With Lacey Evans. (CHECK..)

Noble Reporters

Dressed demurely in black leggings and unflattering baggy t-shirts, rather than their trademark low-cut bikini tops, WWE superstars Natalya and Lacey Evans starred in the first-ever women’s wrestling match in Saudi Arabia on Thursday, the latest unlikely event in the kingdom as it attempts to shrug off an ultra-conservative image.

As they arrived in the ring, with their flowing blonde hair uncovered, three teenagers laughed out loud having earlier in the evening been entranced by the spectacle served up by male, shirtless fighters.

Read… FII: Buhari Arrives Saudi Arabia. [Details..]

“It’s nonsense,” said one to the other, struggling to be heard above the fireworks and rock ‘n’ roll music which blasted into the Riyadh night.

Evans, a former US Marine, and Natalya appeared at the King Fahd Stadium suitably dressed down for the occasion, their usual costumes left behind in the United States.

“Do you want them to be sent to jail?” said an expatriate fan who wished to remain anonymous when defending the dress code.

“Women’s wrestling in Saudi Arabia, yes, but only if they dress like that, otherwise it would not be possible, even if it’s a fact that the clothing is an integral part of the show,” added a young fan wearing a black World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) t-shirt, adorned with pictures of his favourite fighters.

Saudi Arabia is boosting entertainment that allows citizens to have fun, in what some see as an attempt to blunt public frustration over an economic downturn and high youth unemployment.

De facto leader Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has introduced reforms including allowing concerts, reopening cinemas, and lifting a prohibition on women driving as part of a modernisation drive.

However, when it comes to women’s wrestling, it may be a long, hard road.

Last year, broadcast during a men’s wrestling match of a promotional video featuring scantily-clad female wrestlers sparked a scandal in the country, forcing the authorities concerned to apologise for the “indecent” images.

Ahmed, 24, who says he follows the sport from the kingdom, appeared disappointed with such furores.

“I was waiting for the women’s match. Those who want to see such a spectacle should have the right to access it, and those who do not like don’t have to come,” he said.

Ali, 40, attended with his two children and said he wanted to support the social changes in progress in the country.

However, he thinks there should be “limits”.

“These women’s shows, honestly…”, said Ali, wearing his country’s traditional all-white robe.

“That women drive, it’s already a shock for me. I’m not against it but you have to get used to it.”

Despite his discomfort, he said he had promised his daughter, pulling at his arm to show him her favourite wrestler, to teach her to drive when she is old enough.
