#NTYTR: Shehu Sani reacts to Tinubu’s fresh message to youths.

A former Senator, Shehu Sani, on Monday said by the time the country’s youths waited for President Muhammadu Buhari and possibly Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader to finish their tenures, ‘they would have become elders themselves’.

Sani’s view is a reaction to Sunday’s statement by 2023 presidential hopeful, Tinubu, who said Nigerian youths will become president only after him.

Noble Reporters Media reports that there has been clamour for youths to occupy top political positions in the country, which gave birth to the #NotTooYoungToRun movement.

Speaking when he visited Lamidi Adeyemi, the Alaafin of Oyo, at the palace, Tinubu, 69, asked the youths to create room for elderly people.

“You won’t allow the elderly ones to pass and you haven’t become president. What if you become president, will you chase us out of town?” Tinubu asked rhetorically.

“You will grow old and become president. But I will become the president first.”

Sani, a avid user of social media who is in the opposition would respond.

“By the time the Youths waited for Baba and waited for Jagaban to finish their tenures, they have become elders themselves,” Sani wrote on his verified Twitter handle.

How Shehu Sani’s conversation was recorded – Witness tells Court

Advertisements

Two additional witnesses on Wednesday testified against Senator Shehu Sani before Justice I.E. Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

One of them, Mohammed Sani, son of Kaduna-based Alhaji Sani Dauda (ASD), who is the plaintiff in the matter disclosed how he followed the advice of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and recorded the conversations between his father and Senator Sani.

Senator Sani, who represented Kaduna Central senatorial district is facing EFCC’s prosecution on two-count criminal charges, bordering on name-dropping, influence-peddling and obtaining by false pretence to the tune of $25,000.00 from Alhaji Dauda.

Mohammed Sani, who testified as prosecution witness seven (PW7), told the court that he was the one who set up a phone in his father’s office and also in his home in Kaduna that recorded the conversation between his father and Shehu Sani, which has been rendered as evidence in Senator Sani’s prosecution.

Advertisements

“We went to EFCC’s office on Monday after Shehu Sani stopped picking and responding to my dad’s calls and text messages, to write a statement on the issue. I needed to be there too to write my own part of the story because I was the one who called Abubakar, a bureau de change operator, telling him that my dad needed United States Dollars equivalent of N5 million.

Shehu Sani

“At the commission’s office, they told us to record any conversations between my dad and Shehu Sani, and that’s how we started recording him. I set the phone for recording in my dad’s office in Abuja and also in Kaduna, where Shehu Sani came with his brother, one Dr. Ibrahim asking my father to change his statement with EFCC,” Sani said.

The witness further told the court that EFCC later collected his dad’s two phones and his own phone as exhibits in the case.

Prosecution witness eight (PW 8), Fatima Asabe Umar, an EFCC staff in the Digital Forensic Department, who conducted forensic examinations on the phones, also testified.

“As a digital forensic analyst, I examine, analyze mobile devices, computers, and any digital device that have memory among many others. I received a memo from Ibrahim Musa of the AMCON Desk of the Commission, requesting us to extract a record from the two Samsung mobile phones and one iPhone.

“Immediately after receiving the request, I collected the devices, three phones. I examined them. Afterwards I wrote a report to the AMCON Desk, asking Bako Mohammed to come for the devices they brought. I gave them the report, and also burnt it into a compact disk and gave it to them,” she said.

COVID-19: Two things worsening infections in Kano – Shehu Sani reveal. [Nigeria]

Advertisements

Former senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani has blamed mass illiteracy and ignorance for the worsening case of COVID-19 in Kano State.

Kano yesterday recorded 92 cases of COVID-19 which draws the total number to 311 amid mysterious deaths which occurred last week.

According Shehu Sani, misapplication of religious beliefs is getting the people away from science and towards harms way.

He said, “The situation in Kano is an avoidable creeping tragedy. In times of health emergencies, religious leaders in Kano have a history of promoting dangerous myths, hazardous superstitions and fictional narratives,” the former senator said.

Advertisements

“The political leadership in Kano is tragically bending towards the lunacy of the mythical, anti science religious clerics thereby setting the mass of the populace in the harms way.

“From Polio to Coronavirus, the north and particularly Kano has historically become a breeding ground and a harbinger of infectious and contagious diseases as a direct result of the misrepresentation of religion to undermine medical realities or the concoction and dissemination of bogus conspiracy theories and conjectures.

“Mass illiteracy and ignorance in Kano fertilizes, catalyzes and aggravates the COVID-19 situation in the state.

Advertisements

“The most efficient and effective way of inciting the mass of the people in Kano or most parts of the North against any idea, policy, substance or matter or against any science, technology, food or drug, is to induct or recruit religious leaders to rebuke or denounce it as a conspiratorial plot to reduce the number of Muslims, and it will be wholeheartedly believed by a gullible mass.”

He added that the almajiri kids show ere sent to their villages forcefully would one day return as bandits.

“Interstate Almajiri exchange program will not solve the Almajiri problems in the North. The strategy of forceful ‘deportation’ of the Almajiri to their villages or their states of origins amounts to hiding our dirty laundry instead of cleaning them,” he said.

Advertisements

“The Almajiri you refused to educate and integrate but choose to forcefully take out to the villages, will return as bandits or insurgents.

“Northern Politicians and elites toxic strategy of exploitation of religion to rise to power or preserve it has continuously undermined the region socio economic development.”

Buhari knows nothing about Sanusi’s dethronement – Garba Shehu.

The Presidency has said that President Muhammadu Buhari had no hand in the dethronement of former Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said in a statement on Wednesday that all such insinuations are “untrue, malicious and politically motivated.”

Shehu added: “The President does not have a history of intervening in the affairs of any state in the country unless the issue at hand is of national consequence. On such matters which impinge on national security, he has a duty of involvement as the law stipulates.

“As outlined in the Constitution, the appointment or removal of emirs and other traditional leaders is strictly within the jurisdiction of state governments. It is unfair and disingenuous of opposition politicians to try to link the situation in Kano State to the Federal Government and the Nigerian president.

“Although a retired general and former Military Head of State, President Buhari clearly understands that under the current democratic dispensation, the government at the centre cannot read instructions or twist the arms of all or any of the 36 state governments making up the federation. They all have their powers specified under the Constitution.

EFCC put me in underground cell – Shehu Sani said after release ..

A former Senator representing Kaduna Central senatorial district, Shehu Sani, has said operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, breached his fundamental human rights during his 30 days incarceration.

Sani in a statement on Saturday said apart from searching his houses and offices, the EFCC agents also forced him to declare his assets.

The rights activist also said they tried to subject him to polygraph lie detector tests, blocked his accounts, seized his phones and kept him in the underground cell of the agency for 30 days.

While pledging to abide by the bail conditions, Sani urged Nigerians to disregard the “lies against him by the EFCC spokesperson.”

Part of the statement read, “I wish to thank all individuals and groups that have shown concern, support, solidarity, and prayers during my 30 days of incarceration in the underground cell of the EFCC on the orders of its chairman.

“With gratitude to Almighty Allah, my special appreciation to Amnesty International, SERAP, HURIWA, and other groups, numerous to mention.

“My incarceration for 30 days in the jail of EFCC was unfair, unjust and a clear breach of my fundamental rights and hence stands condemned.

“During my unjust stay in the EFCC cell, I was subjected to traumatizing interrogations; My houses and offices were searched.

“They compelled me to declare my assets, they tried to subject me to polygraph lie detector tests, my accounts were blocked, and my phone was seized, all in the name of fictional $24,000 or $25, 000 extortion.

“Any Information planted in the media by the EFCC spokesperson while I was in their custody about me is outrightly false and nothing but a bacterial and fungal infested concoctions, typical of their style.

“Our country will continue to be at the bottom strata of the transparency International index as long as our anti-graft agencies only use their might and arsenal to crush ants while lacking the courage, the heart, and the liver to confront the snakes, the vultures and the hyenas of the ruling establishment.

“They can frame me, detain me but can’t silence me.

“I shall abide by all the conditions of my bail and appreciate the courage, compassion, and wisdom of the court in granting me the bail.

“In an ideal democratic state, all agencies of the government are obliged to operate within the dictates and the ambit of the rule of law or the nation leaps into tyranny.
