Neymar Jr. dedicated his second goal against Lille FC to Kobe Bryant ..

Neymar dedicated his second goal in Paris Saint-Germain’s 2-0 win at Lille on Sunday to basketball legend Kobe Bryant, whose death on Sunday in a helicopter crash shocked the world.

The Brazilian slotted home the 52nd-minute penalty that put PSG two goals up in the French Ligue 1 clash and went over to the television cameras by the side of the Stade Pierre Mauro pitch to make the number 24 with his fingers in honour of Bryant’s shirt number.

“It’s deeply saddening for the world of sport and for all of us,” said Neymar to Canal+ after the win, which put PSG 10 points clear at the top of the league.

“Not just for basketball fans, but for everything he did for the sport.”

Bryant, who had been nominated for the NBA Hall of Fame in December, was confirmed dead at 41 years old on Sunday after a helicopter crashed and burst into flames in foggy conditions in suburban Los Angeles, leaving five people dead.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officials said there were no survivors from the morning crash on a rugged hillside in Calabasas, west of LA.

In an email, Mayor of Calabasas Alicia Weintraub confirmed Bryant was among the victims.

“Yes, it is confirmed,” Weintraub wrote.

Lazaro’s loan move to Newcastle, a success

Newcastle have completed the signing of Valentino Lazaro on loan from Inter, with an option to buy at the end of the season.

The 23-year-old has found opportunities hard to come by under Antonio Conte this season, making just four appearances in Serie A after moving to Milan from Hertha BSC last summer.

But it’s the north east of England where he’ll be based for the next five months, with Newcastle confirming in an announcement on their official website that a deal has been done for Lazaro to join the club on loan.

A club statement said: “Newcastle United are pleased to confirm the signing of Austria international Valentino Lazaro on loan for the remainder of the current season.”

Lazaro added: “I’m very happy to be here and can’t wait to meet all my teammates, get out on the training pitch and hopefully get a lot of victories in the future.

“I’ve only heard great things about the club. I’ve had good talks with the coach so I feel very happy to be here now. Those conversations convinced me that this is the right place for me to come.”

Head coach Steve Bruce said: “Valentino is a quality player who’ll add to us in attacking areas of the field, where we need to improve. He can play in a few positions but he is a natural winger with an excellent delivery.

“We have worked hard to get him ahead of other clubs, so I’m delighted with what we’ve done. Along with Nabil Bentaleb, he’ll give us strong options.”

The option to buy is thought to be around the €23.5m mark, with the loan costing Newcastle €1.5m.

The former Red Bull Salzburg midfielder, who primarily operates on the right hand side, will provide much needed additional cover for Steve Bruce’s Magpies, with a host of injury problems depleting his squad over the course of the season.

Valentino Lazaro

Jetro Willems and Paul Dummett are out for the remainder of the season, while Allan Saint-Maximin and Joelinton are among a number of players who have been carrying knocks over the past few weeks.

Despite that, Newcastle have performed admirably throughout the campaign, defying pre-season expectations to sit comfortably in mid-table after putting together a string of impressive results.

Best goal scoring streak: Ronaldo number 1 after Parma’s 2-1 clash

Cristiano Ronaldo has put his skates on and has entered the fight for the Golden Boot. The Portuguese made it 1-0 against Parma and in the 2nd half, he scored to make it 2-1.

With some luck, Cristiano Ronaldo scored the first goal of the match, while exhibiting finishing power for the second, which again put Juve in front, after Cornelius leveled for Parma.

Cristiano Ronaldo started his goal-scoring streak in the Serie A on the 1st December and hasn’t failed to score in any league match since then.

He has scored against Sassuolo, Lazio, Udinese, Sampdoria, Cagliari, Roma, and Parma.

In all competitions, the Portuguese striker has scored 12 goals in his last 9 matches. He only failed to score in the Italian Supercoppa final, also against Lazio.

Against a very stubborn Parma team on Sunday, Ronaldo made the difference shortly before the break, his shot from inside the box deflected off Darmian; in the 2nd he made the most of a Dybala pass to ensure Juventus claim three points.

Cristiano Ronaldo currently holds the best goal-scoring form in Europe and has recovered his level after a dubious start. He is now a contender for the Golden Boot.

After the game against Parma, Ronaldo took to Twitter to celebrate his performance and three points earned.

“I’m very proud, because it’s so difficult.”

According to Tennis.com, Federer has already earned £689million, with a further £153m guaranteed from agreed-upon sponsorship contracts in the months and years ahead.

ATP figures state that Federer has racked up £98m in prize money from singles and doubles tournaments. He also made money in major competitions and took part in a South American exhibition tournament during the off-season which brings in £7.6m each year.

But Businessinsider.com claimed it is his commercial success away from the tennis court that has helped him to amass his fortune with sponsorship deals with brands such as Rolex, Uniqlo, Credit Suisse, and Mercedes Benz.

Ex England striker, Emile react to iheanacho’s goal against Aston villa

Former England striker, Emile Heskey, has described Leicester City star, Kelech Iheanacho’s goal as ‘really impressive’ after the 23-year-old scored in the Foxes’ Carabao Cup 1-1 draw against Aston Villa on Wednesday night at the King Power Stadium.

Iheanacho came on as a substitute in the second-half to score the equalizer for Brendan Rodgers’men after Freddy Guilbert had put Aston Villa ahead in the first-half.

Hesky believes Iheanacho’s touch and finish against Aston Villa was great.

“It was a great finish from Kelechi Iheanacho,” Heskey told Sky Sports.

“That’s what he is capable of doing. I was surprised that they didn’t bring him on at half-time to be honest.

“He just gives them something different and you could see that they were really struggling to make chances.

“His goal was really impressive, especially the first touch which opened it up and the finish was great. He is that box player.

“If you give him that chance or half chance in and around the box, he’ll take it.”

“He has been unlucky in that he is up against Jamie Vardy who is on fire, so he hasn’t played that much,” Heskey added.

“But when he has played and come on the field, he has had a massive impact.”

Barcelona players who could break through in 2020

Barcelona sit atop the La Liga table, progressed through the Champions League group stage unbeaten and have the best player in the world in their team.

However, things aren’t as rosy as they seem. Most of the Spanish Champions’ games this season have followed a similar and unsustainable pattern: start the match poorly and rely upon Marc-André ter Stegen to produce a wonder-save or two before shutting their eyes and praying Lionel Messi scores or sets up the winner.

While Messi may currently be the top scorer in La Liga, he is undoubtedly slowing down and La Blaugrana may have the unenviable task of replacing the Argentinian sooner than they hoped. Add this to the fact that Ter Stegen is injured and Ernesto Valverde’s side will have to find a different way to battle through matches, as fans reminisce about better days.

On 25 November 2012, after an injured Dani Alves was replaced by Martin Montoya in the 14th minute, Barcelona had 11 graduates from their much-heralded academy, La Masia, on the pitch at the same time.

More than six years have passed and no players have been able to live up to the once-in-a-generation La Masia greats such as Andrés Iniesta, Xavi and Messi himself, but 2020 could be the year that the new crop come closer than those before them.

The 17-year-old Ansu Fati has proven that Valverde is willing to entrust youth with the responsibility of wearing the first-team jersey, but there are several others who could make their breakthrough this year.

Moussa Wagué (Right-Back)

To put it bluntly, Barcelona have never been able to properly replace Dani Alves since he was picked up by Juventus on a free in 2016. Aleix Vidal was thought to be the solution in 2015 when they splashed £15m to acquire his services. Suffice to say, the 30-year-old, who now plays on the right-wing for 15th-placed Alaves, was not the answer.

Nelson Semedo was the next solution but the Portuguese full-back has oddly looked better filling in for Jordi Alba on the left rather than in his natural right-back slot. And so, the current duties fall upon the Swiss army knife that is Sergi Roberto.

Moussa Wagué, a 21-year-old Senegal international, has already made his senior debut for La Blaugrana but has been limited to 180 minutes of first-team football so far this season. The nippy full-back has only played against bottom of the league Leganes and in the dead rubber that was Barça’s last Champions League group game, yet impressed in both outings.

Securing a regular starting berth this season may be a bit ambitious, but Wagué’s potential is clear for all to see. And given the mess that has gone before the young man in the right-back slot, he may find his way into the first 11 by the end of the year.

Jean-Clair Todibo (Centre-Back)

After only 10 appearances in the French top flight with Toulouse in 2018/19, Barcelona bought the then-19-year-old and Jean-Clair Todibo has caught the eye in his limited appearances since. Gerard Piqué will be 33-years-old next month and 6’3 Todibo could serve as a ready-made replacement for the Catalan captain.

Imposing, elegant, and comfortable on the ball, Todibo has all the attributes a Barcelona centre-back needs. Couple this with his ability to fill in at defensive midfield and it’s not surprising the Spanish giants pushed forward their transfer of the player from the summer of 2019 to January that same year.

Júnior Firpo (Left-Back)

Some may argue that Júnior Firpo has already broken through, during his time with Real Betis, which got him the move to Barcelona. A fair argument to make. But the 23-year-old Dominican-born full-back is yet to break through in his new and rather more daunting surroundings.

Júnior was bought for £16m in the summer as the eventual successor to Jordi Alba, a player who will go down in Barcelona and Spanish football history as one of the best. It seems as though the pressure of Firpo’s monumental task of replacing Alba has seeped into Júnior’s performance during the first half of his debut campaign.

This was perhaps most evident during Barcelona’s 1-0 smash-and-grab away to Atlético Madrid at the start of December. When Júnior wasn’t being targeted by Atléti’s wingers, his manager was desperately urging him further up the field to support the attack.

Unfortunately, and likely due to a desire to avoid a costly mistake, Júnior cast a striking resemblance to a mime running into an invisible wall every time he fought against his attacking instincts in favour of playing it safe.

However, as the match progressed, his confidence grew and at times he leapt over the mental barrier. As the year goes on, he will be given more and more opportunities and due to the age and injury-prone nature of Alba, it seems that 2020 could prove to be the year Júnior breaks through at Barcelona.

Riqui Puig (Central Midfielder)

The 20-year-old Catalan native is the prototype Barcelona midfielder. Standing at 5’7, he would have been turned away from the academy before he’d even kicked a ball had Johan Cruyff not scrapped the height requirements Barcelona enforced prior to the Dutchman’s arrival.

Puig has been part of La Masia since he was 13-years-old and made his senior debut in the Copa del Rey last season, assisting the fourth goal in Barcelona’s 4-1 win over Cultura Leonesa. He may be yet to grace La Liga this season, but Puig is one of the most highly-touted youngsters on Barça’s books.

While it is entirely feasible that Puig follows in the footsteps of previously hotly-tipped La Masia youngsters such as; Sergi Samper, Isaac Cuenca or Sandro Ramirez, it would be unfair to condemn him, or any others on the list, to this fate just yet.

Unknown characters destroy Ibrahimovic’s statue again in Sweden

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s statue in his hometown of Malmo was vandalised overnight Saturday, Swedish police reported.

The statue has been the target of numerous attacks since the Swedish footballer invested in Stockholm-based Hammarby, angering supporters of Malmo FF, the club where he began his professional career.

In November, a day after his investment in Hammarby, Ibrahimovic filed a “hate crime” complaint after the statue was attacked with fire and paint and the word ‘Judas’ daubed across the front door of his Stockholm home.

In the latest incident, the statue had collapsed against the barrier protecting it, its feet partially chopped off.

“A vandalism complaint has been lodged,” NobleSport learnt

There are calls from local inhabitants for the statue outside Malmo’s city stadium to be moved.

“I can understand that many people are disappointed in Zlatan’s behaviour but vandalising a statute is simply unworthy. Better to express your dissatisfaction in a democratic way,” Malmo deputy mayor Frida Trollmyr said.

A citizens’ initiative to move the sculpture will be considered in February, she added.

Ibrahimovic, 38, is set to make his debut for former club AC Milan in Serie A on Monday after signing a six-month contract with the former European champions last week. NobleSport culled

James Maddison’s transfer option by Manchester United becomes the silliest

Manchester United are willing to offer Leicester City £45m and Jesse Lingard in exchange for midfielder James Maddison, according to the reports in Sunday’s papers.

Maddison has been in electric form for the Foxes this season, firing nine goals and three assists in all competitions to keep Leicester on track for Champions League qualification.

FBL-ENG-PR-WEST HAM-LEICESTER

United are thought to be keen on striking a deal for Maddison at some point in the near future, and the Mirror even claim that he is the club’s ‘top target’ for the January window.

However, they are said to have only offered £45m plus Lingard. Honestly, that’s what it says. Does that really sound like ‘top target’ money?

Lingard is somehow valued at £40m by United, meaning this whole deal would actually be worth £85m on paper, but it seems incredibly unlikely that Leicester would value Lingard at that same price.

The 27-year-old did not manage to register a single goal or an assist in the Premier League in 2019, which is definitely not the record Leicester would want from a player who could be replacing one of England’s finest attacking midfielders.

United do not feel as though Leicester will sell in January, so a summer transfer is suggested as the more likely option, but even that seems incredibly unrealistic if United are only prepared to part with £45m and Lingard.

Leicester have proven to be willing to sell their stars for the right price – just look at Harry Maguire’s move to United last summer – but this rumoured deal for Maddison does not come anywhere close to that.

If United offered the £85m in cash, they might have a chance, but trying to offload Lingard will almost certainly not get the job done.

The Foxes currently find themselves second in the Premier League, 14 points and three places above United in the table, so it is not even unreasonable to suggest that Maddison might want to stay with Leicester for the foreseeable future.

‘Details of a Club tribute to Chris will follow in the coming days. On behalf of Chris’ family, we’d ask for them to be afforded privacy at this very difficult time.

His former team-mates are mourning his shocking death on social media.
