CM: Rodrigo Bentancur – 6/10 – Tireless pressing from the front and produced some really nice dribbles. Didn’t always pick the right pass.
CM: Yves Bissouma – 4/10 – Not showing the composure and awareness that made him such an easy watch at Brighton.
CM: Oliver Skipp – 6/10 – A couple of bursts forward looked promising in the first half but his distribution was a little loose.
LWB: Ryan Sessegnon – 4/10 – Couldn’t handle Almiron before the Paraguayan raced off and scored. Played into space frequently but delivery wasn’t there.
ST: Harry Kane – 7/10 – Picked out some textbook passes and saw a shot saved by Pope. Got free at the back post to head in.
ST: Son Heung-min – 5/10 – Went close with a few early efforts from the edge of the box. Could have given Spurs the lead from close range but his effort was hacked away by Trippier. Faded as the game wore on.

GK: Nick Pope – 7/10 – Half-stopped a Son effort and was more convincing when booting away Kane’s shot. No outrageous saves but was big and strong when he needed to be.
RB: Kieran Trippier – 8/10 – Swept up well to stop Son’s shot creeping over the line. Dealt well with Sessegnon.
CB: Fabian Schar – 7/10 – Played some nice long balls which put Spurs on the back foot.
CB: Sven Botman – 7/10 – Made a nuisance of himself in the opposition box and put in some solid blocks.
LB: Dan Burn – 6/10 – Formed part of the stout Newcastle backline that restricted Tottenham’s opportunities from open play.
CM: Sean Longstaff – 7/10 – Read the game brilliantly to rob Sessegnon and feed Almiron for Newcastle’s second.
CM: Bruno Guimaraes – 7/10 – An all-action display from the Brazilian, who frequently picked up possession for his side with some battling defensive work.
CM: Joe Willock – 6/10 – Strike from the edge of the box worried Lloris at 2-0. Worked hard before making way late on.
RW: Miguel Almiron – 8/10 – Whizzed past Lenglet from Longstaff’s pass to fire in his side’s second. Tricky dribbling made him a threat in the final third.
