Nigerian blogger and entrepreneur, Linda Ifeoma Ikeji has come under fire for the production and release of the movie: Dark October.
Recall with ๐น๐๐๐๐ ๐ฝ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ธ๐๐๐๐ that the parents of the four students of University of Port Harcourt, who were killed by a mob in the Aluu Community in 2012, had asked the popular blogger, Linda Ikeji and Netflix, to suspend the planned premiere of their movie, Dark October.
The movie, which was released on February 3 tells the story of the murder of the four students codenamed Aluu-4 in October 2012.
The family through a rights group, The Integrity Friends for Truth and Peace The initiative (TIFPI), said Linda Ikeji made the movie about their late children without consulting them.
It said that the movie has reawakened the already doused trauma caused by the tragic killing of their children.
Given that the movie was released, Linda Ikeji does not appear to have complied with their request.
On social media, the development has elicited a variety of responses.
Some Twitter users shamed her, while others applauded her for highlighting the unfairness the boys endured.
@peekaymila said,โLinda Ikeji is a despicable human.
โShe made a movie about the Aluu 4 victims without the consent of the parents.
โWent ahead to release the movie on @netflix, even after the parents expressed their dissatisfaction and opposed the idea.
โHow could @netflix let this happen?.
@DanielRegha said, โLinda Ikeji making a movie about the Aluu 4 victims isnโt a problem, cos anyone can make a movie about people, living or dead; But since the affected families disapproved, Linda shouldโve canceled the movie. Sheโs profiting from other peopleโs misfortune & thatโs truly evil.
@rukevwejacobs said,โThe Aluu 4 story had to be told in film. Thanks, Linda Ikeji. True, this story may not be welcome by the families concerned. But for the sake of them, for the sake of Deborah and many others, we need to remember. ThisT film is the most useful film I have watched from Nigeria.
@Lithmike said, โI think we should all give Linda ikeji a break out problem is that we play emotion too much in the country u see that Aluu 4 story if a Nigerian donโt tell it a white man will steal it and tell it the way it suits them and nothing will happen.

@OlujuwonBabs said,โ How does this make Linda Ikeji despicable? Does the family own the right to a public story? Are we being emotional because itโs Linda or cos it involves money? Itโs a public story and it can be told by anyone. I dislike this faux outrage.
@StanleyEzihie said, โLol, even people that start recording dying victims of an accident without trying to help save their life first, are shouting Linda Ikeji shouldnโt have produced a movie about Aluu 4 without consent. The irony of this woke Twitter users.

Cameron and a team of scientists re-staged one of Titanicโs final scenes to test the theory that Jack couldโve survived on the door next to Rose in โdangerous levels of freezing water.โ
In the words of (old) Rose, โitโs been 84 yearsโ since James Cameron was able to leave the house without being questioned about the long-standing theory that Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio), the love of his life, could have survived the Titanicโs sinking if he had just gotten on that floating door next to Rose (Kate Winslet), near the end of his Best Picture-winning epic Titanic.
In the upcoming National Geographic special Titanic: 25 Years Later With James Cameron, the 68-year-old director puts the rumors to rest before the movieโs Feb. 10 theatrical re-release. In it, Cameron and a group of scientists try to recreate the incident and test four different hypotheses in which Jack actually climbed onto the wreckage as well.
In the initial round, Cameron notes that โJack and Rose are able to get on the raft, but now theyโre both submerged in dangerous levels of freezing waterโ in the video above.
Then, in order to increase the actorsโ chances of survival, the team positions both actors on the raft so that their upper bodiesโand vital organsโare lifted out of the water.
โOut of the water, [his bodyโs] violent shaking was helping him,โ Cameron continues. โProjecting it out, he couldโve made it pretty long. Like, hours.โ
The actors take on all of the physically demanding tasks Jack and Rose underwent before discovering the floating door for the final test, including the scene in which a fellow passenger tries to use Rose as a floatation device but is met by a powerful blow from Jackโs fist. The Rose in the experiment gives Jack a life jacket for extra protection, which is another extra moment they add that wasnโt in the movie.
โHeโs stabilized,โ Cameron observes. โHe got into a place where if we projected that out, he just mightโve made it until the lifeboat got there. Jack mightโve lived, but thereโs a lot of variables. I think his thought process was, โIโm not going to do one thing that jeopardized her,โ and thatโs 100 percent in character.โ
Fans of Titanic have long debated the issue, and Winslet offered her opinion while on tour to promote her part in director James Cameronโs most recent wet and wild adventure, Avatar: The Way of Water.
โI have to be honest: I actually donโt believe that we would have survived if we had both gotten on that door. I think he would have fit, but it would have tipped and it would not have been a sustainable idea,โ Winslet said in December on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. โSo, you heard it here for the first time. Yes, he could have fit on that door, but it would not have stayed afloat. It wouldnโt.โ
Unfortunately, however, it was never going to end well for Jack.
Titanic: 25 Years Later With James Cameron โ celebrating 25 years since the filmโs Best Picture victory at the 1998 Oscars โ premieres Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on National Geographic, and streams the next day on Hulu. Watch Cameron test the floating door theory in the clip above.
