Tyson Fury does not want to look vulnerable in WWE – Report.

Advertisements

WWE is in an interesting spot with Tyson Fury as the two sides want to work together, but there are some challenges in the way.

As previously reported by The US Sun, WWE wants Fury to make an appearance at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view on January 28 ahead of a possible match at WrestleMania 39. It’s unclear who WWE wants him to wrestle at the show in April. (Watch Video Here)

The odds of these plans happening are considered slim as Fury is banned from entering the United States due to links with alleged Irish mob boss Daniel Kinahan. Fury is losing millions of dollars from not being able to make the appearances. WWE may book him at one of their international shows in 2023.

Fury made his in-ring debut (Watch Video Here) at WWE Crown Jewel in 2019 by defeating Braun Strowman via count out.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that according to one major source, the person couldn’t say the story wasn’t true but was not something talked about. (Watch Video Here)

“It was noted that Fury was not willing to put people over or even look vulnerable, and if he were to be in the Rumble as a surprise, what would he do and how does it even make sense for him to do a quick Rumble cameo given the amount of money it would cost to use him,” Meltzer wrote.

If WWE can get Fury to appear at WrestleMania, then that would be just another big get for them as they hope to have The Rock wrestle Roman Reigns at the show in addition to having Steve Austin and John Cena wrestle. (Watch Video Here)

John Cena addresses possibility of becoming a 17-time WWE World Champion.

Advertisements

In 2017, John Cena tied Ric Flair’s record for most world championship reigns at 16 when he won the gold at the Royal Rumble.

That was Cena’s last title reign, as he has since become a part-time WWE star while focusing on his Hollywood career.

Flair recently noted that he doesn’t think Cena will set the record but does think Randy Orton, who has 14 world title reigns, has a shot at it.

While speaking at Comic-Con Wales, Cena noted that he’s unsure if he can break the record.

“Well, that’s a very difficult question. Like I said, I know I’m not done in the ring. I am realistic with where I’m at in my life. I’m 45, and I can tell you from being a 16-time champion, it is very tough to win. The top of that mountain is a young man’s game. So I’m not done in the ring. but I’m not certain that that’s in the cards. We’ll see. Stories yet to be told because if I’m in the ring, I got a chance. I am just saying I’ve been there, so kudos to the young guys doing it.”

Cena also commented on his status for WWE Clash at the Castle next month at this appearance.

John Cena and Shay Shariatzadeh ‘ties the knot’ for a second time.

Advertisements

It’s official, WWE’s John Cena and Shay Shariatzadeh got married. Cena confirmed the news today on Twitter. The couple actually got married for the second time on Friday in Vancouver.

TMZ reports that Cena and Shariatzadeh were actually married for the first time on October 12, 2020 in Tampa but it was a small private ceremony because of the pandemic. The wedding on Friday was much bigger with a lot of family and friends in attendance.

Cena and Shariatzadeh began dating in 2019, not long after the public split with Nikki Bella in 2018. Cena and Shariatzadeh met on the set of the 2019 comedy “Playing with Fire,” which was also filmed in Vancouver. Shariatzadeh was working for Sonatype, an enterprise software company.

Cena has a lot on his plate in the coming months. Bryan Alvarez reported that Cena could not appear at SummerSlam due to filming for the next season of his HBO series “Peacemaker.”

Cena returned to WWE Raw last month to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his main roster debut and there has been talk of a Cena vs. Theory match at some point so if his schedule is free, that match could happen at WrestleMania.

Congratulations to Cena and Shariatzadeh on their second wedding

Mr McMahon sees young John Cena in Austin Theory.

Advertisements

Austin Theory has been pushed strongly since returning to the main roster last year during the Draft as Vince McMahon is very high on the young star.

WrestleVotes reported today that a WWE source stated he anticipates bigger things in the future of Theory as the WWE Chairman sees him as a young John Cena, WWE’s biggest star since Steve Austin and The Rock.

“Now that his push is in full effect, source states he anticipates bigger & bigger things for Theory. A person with direct knowledge states Vince “sees a young John Cena in Theory” and will “give the kid everything he needs to be successful.”

Although Roman Reigns is the current top star in the company, McMahon is looking to make new top guys. As previously reported, Theory and Bron Breakker are two of the names that are being looked at by management as stars that can carry the company at some point.

When Cena was coming up, Batista was also being groomed as a top star. They both won their first World Titles at WrestleMania 21 as Cena beat JBL to become the WWE Champion while Batista defeated Triple H to become the World Heavyweight Champion.

Theory has previously stated that he looked up to Cena when he was growing up and would want to retire him.

Austin Theory had more talents, gifts than I ever had: John Cena.

Advertisements

John Cena has given some advice and kind words to Austin Theory, the current WWE United States Champion. This past weekend, Theory shared a video of him taunting a young Cena fan at a live event and he pointed at the championship before telling the fan that it makes him better than Cena.

Theory tagged Cena in the post and wished him a Happy Birthday as Cena turned 45 years old on Saturday. This was all in fun as Theory was a big fan of the former WWE Champion while growing up. Cena reacted to the post by writing the following:

“Everyone understands that you have far more talent, strength, and gifts than I ever had. Don’t apologize for that. Ever,” said Cena.” An apology should come 20 years from now if you fail to provide the EFFORT needed to turn your potential into your legacy. I hope that day never comes.”

As previously reported, Vince McMahon sees a young Cena in Theory and is high on the United States Champion. There have been comparisons made between Cena and Theory as they both held their first title on the main roster as the United States Champion.

Austin Theory now United States Champion; defeats Finn Bálor.

Advertisements

After several months of trying to impress Vince McMahon, Austin Theory (now known as Theory) has won the WWE United States Champion. Theory defeated Finn Balor to win the title on Monday Night Raw.

After the match, Theory celebrated in the ring with some of the heel roster and then he went to the stage to celebrate with McMahon.

Theory is being pushed as the next big star and Vince McMahon reportedly believes that he can be the next John Cena. Theory is on a similar path as John Cena. When Cena started in WWE, he lost matches on TV for months and was eventually booked to win the United States Title, which was considered a stepping stone to the World Championship.

As for Balor, WrestlingNews.co reported in January that the company no longer sees him as a top star and his role is to help put over younger talent.

AEW’s Max Caster reacts to John Cena’s praise of him.

Advertisements

John Cena previously gave AEW’s Max Caster a lot of praise for his rapper gimmick. The former WWE Champion noted that he thinks Caster is a better rapper than him and the AEW star would beat him in a rap battle.

During a recent virtual signing for Golden Ring Collectibles, Caster responded to Cena’s comments. He also credited Cena as an influence on his career as Cena did the gimmick in the early days of his WWE run.

“That’s a great question [could Max beat John Cena in a rap battle]. John has been very, very nice to me and when he didn’t need to. He reached out and he made that public so I’m allowed to say it now so he reached out and then he said things publicly about me in Forbes and that means a lot to me. So, it’s never been about beating him in a rap battle. It’s about trying to get past the point of people saying I’m a Thuganomics rip-off.”

He said that Cena had a big influence on him and he’s one of Caster’s favorite wrestlers. That gimmick got him to watch wrestling again in 2004. He hopes he can get some fans by doing the same thing in AEW.

He said it’s not about beating Cena in a rap battle, but paying homage to him and elevating what he did.

John Cena did an interview with Alfred Konuwa of Forbes. The following highlights were sent to us:

Fan reaction to WWE Evil

“Peacock is extremely happy that WWE fans flock to material so they can express how they feel,” said John Cena in an exclusive interview.

“If [fans] don’t like it, they’ll be very vocal about it, and if they do like it they’ll also be vocal about it. When we dropped, I was so thankful—as I always am for the WWE Universe—because they were loud and proud in their support of the series. They liked what they got, and the first thing I said was: ‘So now do we do [WWE] Good?’”

“It would be so interesting, but do we now have Paul Heyman narrate WWE Good? We can also look at the fact that John Cena, as a virtuous character, gets booed out of so many buildings. So is John Cena a candidate for WWE Evil, Season 2?”

Cena on what makes a great villain
“As a heel, you should always lean toward the side of virtue, so I think [a good heel is] someone who thinks what they’re doing is virtuous, but it’s really genuinely evil. They can’t look past their own truth, and what they do is genuinely evil,” said Cena.

“When I sit down with an opponent in WWE, it’s not to have a Kung Fu-style exhibition. We discuss why we are fighting. And we will get to the bottom of that, because ‘I want to win’ is not enough. ‘I want to be a champion’ is not enough. There needs to be some more.”

“Normally, as a good guy, you lean on the side of virtue, and the bad guy is the one who leans away from it. That’s a great start, but as WWE gets to building these personalities more and more, I think the actual answer is shades of grey.”

Cena on what WrestleMania 38 match he’s looking forward to the most

When asked which WrestleMania 38 match he was most looking forward to, Cena responded “It doesn’t say anything negative about any other performer—it’s just a testament to how well these two performers are—it’s Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar in the Winner-Take-All match.”

“It has a big-fight feel. It’s two of the greatest performers of all time,” said Cena.

“They had this match not too long ago a few years back, and it did not have the same gravity because Brock is in the conversation by himself as one of, if not the greatest performer ever to step foot in a WWE ring. And I think he’s shown his dynamic ability with this new path he’s on right now. He totally can do it all, he’s not just a strong guy, and an agile guy, he has such depth of character. And the fact that he was holding in these promos for so long and unleashing them now—truthfully, it shows how good, and how patient and how smart he is.”

Advertisements

“And Roman has grown so much from that match we saw years ago. And now it is truly a coin-flip. These are two of the best guys, at their peak, fighting for the most important prize with narrative and story behind it. And each one truly believes in themselves and their own truth. To me, it’s everything that makes a great story, everything that makes a great matchup, everything that makes WrestleMania so great. That is, by far, the biggest attraction WWE has had in a long time. I very much look forward to that.”

John Cena on Max Caster
“I know of Max Caster very well, and the answer is no,” said Cena when asked if he could beat Caster in a rap battle.

“He’s extremely gifted. I remember hearing him for the first time, and asking a good friend of mine to please pass his information on to me. I immediately checked out his raps, out of the blue, and I saw what he was doing was spectacular. I wish him all the best of luck, but I can’t give him any advice because he’s punching far above my weight class. He is very gifted. He’s gifted enough to rhyme to the beat live, where I kind of did my stuff a cappella to let the punchlines sink in.”

“Hip-hop constantly evolves, and it constantly moves forward, and he is the better version of what I did. He’s really, really spectacular. As long as he keeps everything in realistic perspective, he shows great potential.”

NoRM had learnt that the former WWE Champion was nearly a lock to appear at WrestleMania 37 this April.

However, Cena came out in an interview with Sports Illustrated and noted that he would be missing the show this year due to him filming HBO’s “Peacemaker” series.

During the appearance, the former WWE Champion talked about being away from WWE.

He hasn’t worked a match or been seen on television since WrestleMania 36 where he did a match with Bray Wyatt.

“Yeah, I will, I just, unfortunately, you know, the state of the world, I mean, I’m not sitting there on the couch next to you. It’s a difficult and unpredictable time.

Right now, I’m doing this, I’m filming “Peacemaker,” and that’s going to take a lot of my time, and I can’t bounce back and forth due to international restrictions. At least for the time being, I’m here, and I’m still away from WWE, but I very much look forward to returning as soon as I possibly can.”

Hurray!!!🎉🎉🎉Happy birthday, John Cena.

John Cena, a name that is firmly asserted in the world of WWE and is arguably the biggest star in the sport in recent memory.

While it’s hard to imagine anyone breathing the rarefied air that Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock once breathed, Cena is certainly among those who came closest since both men departed wrestling.

The 43-year-old’s turning point came in early 2000, during a casual conversation he had with a wrestler at Gold Gyms who encouraged him to participate in classes at Ultimate Pro Wrestling.

For Cena, the suggestion of making a go of it as a wrestler was not an entirely outlandish idea. John Sr made a living as a wrestling announcer and businessman which showed the sport was very much a part of the Cena household.

As a kid growing up in suburban Massachusetts, the younger Cena spent many hours glued to the television, witnessing his wrestling heroes Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior and Shawn Michaels go at it in the ring.

Becoming a wrestler himself, Cena’s rise was rapid.

Calling himself “The Prototype,” the ambitious wrestler captured the Ultimate Pro Wrestling Company on April 27, 2000, in San Diego, California. During the course of the next year, Cena drew the attention of WWE executives, and in 2001, the young upcoming entertainer signed a developmental contract with the company to work at Ohio Valley Wrestling.

Cena captured the OVW heavyweight title in February 2002, then made his WWE debut that June when he signed up with the SmackDown roster. Just two years later, Cena took home the United States Championship, defeating The Big Show in March 2004 at WrestleMania XX.

In the years since, Cena has notched many wins and titles. In 2007, he became the first wrestler to ever come up victorious against Edward “Umaga” Fatu.

Along the way, Cena was given the nickname “The Marky Mark of Wrestling,” which in turn, greatly increased his celebrity status. Similar to Hogan, Rock and a few others, Cena proved that his showmanship in the ring translated to success in other venues.

Even with the busy schedule of WWE to think about, Cena began to star in movies during the production phase of WWE. He starred in the action films The Marine (2006) and 12 Rounds (2009).

Now, his acting profile has gone from strength to strength, where he has featured in Bumblee Bee and the latest instalment of the Fast and Furious franchise, which is expected this year.

For the first time since 2002, John Cena went a full year without wrestling just prior to this year’s Royal Rumble. The 16-time world champion has been one of the most marmite characters in the WWE for as long as anyone can remember, but a classy entertainer none the least.

Happy birthday, John!

John Cena:I Will Surely Be At Wrestlemania 36

John Cena has confirmed he will be at WrestleMania 36 later this year in Tampa.

Cena took a step back from WWE last year in order to focus on other projects, and it ended up being his first year in the past 17 years that he hadn’t worked a match on any pay-per-view.

He did make appearances throughout the year, most notably appearing at WrestleMania 35 in a spot with Elias, but he never had a match.

During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, the 16-time world champion spoke about his future in WWE, where he said he will be at WrestleMania 36 on April 5.

He said: “Performing at WrestleMania this year would be a gift. I haven’t been intertwined in the machine of the WWE. I know those WrestleMania spots are few and far between. I’ve expressed that I’m off. But I’ve also expressed that I live in Tampa.

“I will for sure be at the event and I have great trust in the process and I have great faith in Vince McMahon not only as a boss, but as so much more than that. As a friend, as a men wwe.
