“Why I don’t see myself as a feminist” — Actress Ini Edo reveals. (Video)

Popular Nollywood actress, Ini Edo has revealed why she does not consider herself a feminist.

She shared this in a recent interview with Taymesan on the ‘Tea with Taypod’ podcast, while speaking on the contentious term ‘feminism’.

She stated that even though she loves fighting for women’s rights, she does not consider herself a feminist because she was raised to value and respect men.


According to her, she is not struggling for the ‘King’ position as most women are, nor is she is cut out for fighting for equal rights with men.

She averred that she is content with being a woman and a “queen” as long as her partner does not oppress her and allows her to be herself.

The 40-year-old movie star said in part,

“Being a feminist means different thing to different people.

I love to protect women’s rights and I feel the need for equality, but I am also a structured person.

I have been raised a certain way. I am raised to respect and value men.

A while back, Ini Edo shed light on the factors that led to her failed marriage with her ex-husband, Philip Ehiagwina.

The 40-year-old movie star opened up on her marriage in a recent interview with media personality, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on Channels TV’s Rubbing Minds show. ICMYI

Actress and mum, Ini Edo who was involved in the production of the highly talked about Shanty Town Movie, has finally responded to critics of the loud nudity in the Nollywood series.

This is coming after the founder of Mount Zion Ministries, Evangelist Mike Bamiloye tackled Nigerian celebrities, particularly actors and actresses who promote nudity, romance, and other social vices with their movies.

Responding to the critics in a chat with BBC Pidgin, Ini Edo who played the role of ‘Inem’ in Shanty Town explained that it was impossible for the movie to be shot without nude scenes considering that the focus of the story is on crime and prostitution.

According to her, it would be impossible to properly pass across the message of the movie without displaying some sex scene.

Ini Edo further stressed that Shanty Town is a story about crime and prostitution and one can’t tell such a story without displaying nudity.

The thespian noted that going naked wasn’t aimed at debasing anyone rather it was in a bid to make the movie look so real.

The veteran movie star also berated the excessive emphasis placed on a woman’s body, while urging people to begin to see a lady’s body as a mere creation of God without weird reasonings attached.

Meanwhile, controversial socialite and businessman, Pretty Mike has revealed that he was traumatized after watching the Shanty Town series.

Shanty Town is a six-episode violent series that revolves around an undercover detective on a revenge mission, who infiltrates a crime ring and uncovers damning information on their activities and associates.

Reacting to the plot, setting, and storyline of Shanty Town, Pretty Mike noted that he is traumatized. He noted that the series portrays the reality of some people.

Pretty Mike prayed for those who live in slums whose horror never ends; he disclose that he would never complain again about the things he doesn’t have. He seized the opportunity to advise Nigerians to make the right decisions in the upcoming general elections before their reality becomes a shanty town

Nollywood actress, Ini Edo has revealed that she has been battling depression after a cream she started using brought some funny reactions on her face.

The actress shared a video of herself on IG revealing a bitter experience she has had in a week.

According to the video she shared, Ini Edo explained how her face skin tone is changing due to the use of some skin products she used for a week.

In the video, she shared, she said that she has been depressed for some days now. According to her, due to the pandemic and lockdown which affected some movements, she lost access to the cream she uses and a friend introduced her to a new cream.

Sharing a photo of her face, she revealed that, she has been having a strange colour coming out on her face as a result of the new cream. She made the video to tell people that she is not bleaching and everyone knows how much she loves her skin.

Despite flaunting his engagement ring for over two years the three-year relationship between actress, Ini Edo and the wealthy boss of Stanel Group, Stanley Ugochukwu has collapsed.

Ini once married to Philip Ehiagwina, still has the gorgeous body type that can stir the loins of a monk regardless of her age while Stanley on his part also used to be married to Irene, daughter of Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen. The marriage produced four children, a triplet and another.

At the height of their relationship, Ini was the apple of Stanley’s eyes. He in return showered her with both love and the best things that money can buy and marriage seemed to be on the table as the actress was seen flaunting a big engagement rock to the envy of some of her colleagues.

In 2018, when Stanel World was officially launched and a few of Ini’s acting colleagues like Uti Nwachukwu, Chioma Chukwuka, Chiwetalu Agu etc were made brand ambassadors of the company, Ini Edo went all out with a public affirmation of her relationship with the boss. She was right by his side, helping with coordination and even took a few photographs with her colleagues at the event in Awka, Anambra State.

Unfortunately, things didn’t quite work out between the duo. Sometime in the middle of last year, rumour had it that the duo have gone their separate ways. Late last year when Stanel Group organized a Marketplace Fair, in Anambra, quite a number of celebrities stormed the event on the invitation of Stanley but Ini was conspicuously absent.

This further confirmed the true state of their relationship. While some believe Ini wasn’t 100 percent committed to Stanley, others are of the opinion that Stanley was the one with roving eyes and as such, couldn’t keep it together with Ini.

The curvy actress took to her Instagram page to share stunning photos from a photoshoot she did recently and wrote in one of the posts: ‘Just look at the perfection and beauty of God’s work…Lion no de born goat.
