“She is not a student of our school” – Imo poly SUG disowns viral lady who attributed graduation to her pu$$y.

The Student Union Government (SUG) of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Imo State, has said that Sharon Ogechi Okoroafor, the lady who attributed her graduation success to the help of God and her private parts, was not a student of the school.

Sharon went viral a few days ago after a video of her celebrating her graduation and claiming it was made possible with the help of God and her private parts surfaced online.

Reacting to the video, the school authority launched an investigation to fish Sharon out.

Sharon later apologised to the institution in a letter, explaining that she meant to say Popsy (her father) and God helped her graduate from the Polytechnic.

In a quite shocking development, the SUG, in a statement released on Tuesday, said Sharon was not a student of the school.

According to the statement signed by the SUG president, Ahaneku Valentine, Sharon did not have a matriculation number with the school nor a project supervisor.

“We have noted with grave concern a viral video of a lady claiming to be a student of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, our great institution and noble alma mater. We have conducted a background check on the said student who goes by the name, Sharon Ogechi Okoroafor from Ngor-Okpala LGA of Imo State. We wish to state, thus, that the Student Union Government views this video as sacrilegious and condemnable.

Also, the said Sharon is not a bonafide student of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede because she has no Registration (Matriculation) Number. She also has no project or research supervisor to show she has graduated. Indeed, the purported student never joined others to do the defense which brought them to school because she had no work to defend. In fact, reports have it that she only came to take valedictory photos with her so-called coursemates.

Anyone can gatecrash in lectures but only a student who has been duly registered and screened by the institution is a genuine student ?Our institution is a reputable brand across the nation, having been rated best-performing polytechnic, and our Rector as best Rector five times.

It is the same institution that has produced great minds and leaders. We can therefore not allow the name of our great institution to be taken to the mud by the accusations of a base character. We, therefore, urge Miss Sharon Okoroafor to stop forthwith in her fraudulent claims that she is a student of Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri. Already she has caused great damage to the sensibilities of noble students of the polytechnic and those of the entire Nigerian students nationwide. We leave her in the hands of posterity to judge?” The statement read.

A foodstuff seller at Eke-Ukwu Owerri market, Ogechi Iwu told 𝕹𝖔𝖇𝖑𝖊 𝕽𝖊𝖕𝖔𝖗𝖙𝖊𝖗𝖘’ known Media that she watched her customers grapple with escalating prices over the past months.

“Rice, garri, onions, noodles, everything has risen in price. Some have more than doubled, others have jumped by various percentages due to high cost of transportation caused by fuel hike,” she said.

A trader, Ngozi Okwara grumbled that the situation led to a hike in the cost of transportation.

She explained that “from Akwakuma Bus Stop to the new market was N100. Now, we pay N200. To bring back the goods to my shop with a drop, from the bush market, used to cost me about N3,500 to N5,500 some months ago. Now, I pay as much as N8,500 for the same quantity of goods.”

While appealing for calm he said, “Everybody should take things easy, let’s see how we can manage the situation in a few months’ time.

Uzodimma’s take on INEC office attack shameful – Imo PDP.

Advertisements

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State has raised eyebrows over the statement made by the Governor of the State, Senator Hope Uzodinma, in the aftermath of last night’s attack on INEC office in Owerri, describing it as irresponsible and shameful.

The opposition party’s statement, signed by its Imo State Publicity Secretary, Collins Opurozor, was made available to DAILY POST in Owerri, Imo State capital on Monday.

Watch Video Here | Download Video Here

PDP said the insecurity in Imo is simply and squarely a direct consequence of the catastrophic failure of governance in the state under the unpopular regime of Senator Uzodinma.

Recall that Gov. Hope Uzodinma had said that the attack on the headquarters of INEC in Owerri is proof that insecurity in the state is politically motivated.

The governor spoke to journalists at the police headquarters in Owerri where the five lifeless bodies including two of the suspected attackers were paraded.

Reacting to Uzodinma’s claim, PDP said: “This governor can no longer defend his inability to deliver on the primary expectation of political governance, which is the security of lives and property.”

The statement reads: “By the way, what else defines political desperation better than a man who came fourth in an election but usurped the people’s mandate through a judicial heist, and now sees himself as their feudal lord?

Advertisements

“From the first week of January this year to the second week of December, Senator Uzodinma has continued to tell Imo people that his enemies are behind the carnage and ravages going on in the state. He has failed to name the enemies. He has also failed to bring them to book. Instead, he repeats the same thing day after day with the intention of hiding his failures and getting sympathizers.

” Imo PDP regrets that, in view of Senator Uzodinma’s lack of sincerity and genuine commitment to addressing the festering insecurity in the state, the valleys of Orsu, the forests of Orlu and the rocky hills of Okigwe have now become safe havens for terrorists, bandits and kidnappers who now make life a misery for Imo people.

“Our Party holds that the insecurity in Imo is simply and squarely a direct consequence of the catastrophic failure of governance in the state under the unpopular regime of Senator Uzodinma.

“Our Party deems it very important to remind Imo people and Nigerians that, before this latest attack on INEC office in the state, there had been some other desperate efforts by those who came to power through the back door to undermine the capacity of INEC to conduct free, fair and credible elections in the state.

“First, INEC came under a very brutal legal attack through a secret court action instituted in the state by those same usurpers. They had sought to stop the use of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), a technology they feared would frustrate their plot to manipulate the forthcoming elections.

“Second, INEC’s database was attacked and the voter register massively compromised, particularly for Omuma Ward, where tens of thousands of fake, alien and non-existent names and photographs were smuggled into the register. That is what Nigerians now refer to as the Omuma Magic!

“It is telling, not just that Omuma is the hometown of Senator Hope Uzodinma, but also that the regime in Imo quickly arrested and arbitrarily detained the INEC officials who were accused of bringing to public knowledge the monumental voters register fraud in Omuma.

Watch Video Here | Download Video Here

“Our Party, therefore, continues to condemn these legal, cyber and physical attacks on INEC and asks security agencies to probe beneath the surface to establish possible links which the secret court action against INEC and an earlier attack on INEC voters register might have with the recent attack on INEC Office in Owerri. Those found guilty of one cannot file a disclaimer over the others.”

Okorocha asks court to dismiss EFCC’s N2.9bn fraud charges against him.

Advertisements

A former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha, has asked a Federal High Court in Abuja to quash a N2.9 billion money laundering charges brought against him by the Federal Government.

The former governor is claiming that the fraud charges initiated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on behalf of the Federal Government constituted a gross abuse of the court and a deliberate misuse of prosecutory powers.

Watch Video Here | Download Video Here

In a preliminary objection against the charges filed by Okorocha through his counsel, Mr Ola Olanipekun (SAN), he gave six grounds on why the charges should be dismissed.

Among others, the former governor, now a Senator, claimed that the charge is unlawful, baseless, oppressive and a gross abuse of the process of the court.

The federal lawmaker sought an order from the court that will discharge, and/or acquit him from the charges.

Olanipekun argued that the investigation upon which the charge was predicated was a subject matter of another suit instituted against EFCC by his client, hence, the current charge, as constituted amounted to abuse of the court and the power to prosecute.

The senior lawyer explained in the preliminary objection that Okorocha had, in the earlier suit, sought declaratory and prohibitory orders that are still extant, at all times material, before and after the preferment of the
charge.

Okorocha, as the first defendant, was arraigned alongside Anyim Nyerere Chinenye, Naphtali International Limited, Perfect Finish Multi Projects Limited, Consolid Projects Consulting Limited, Pramif International Limited, and Legend World Concepts Limited as second to seventh defendants respectively.

Meanwhile, the court has fixed November 22 for hearing of the preliminary objection
marked FHC/ABJ/CR/28/22.

Justice Inyang Edem Ekwo fixed the date to allow EFCC’s counsel, Mr Gbolahan Latona, to respond to all issues raised against his client by Okorocha.

The judge said the application would be taken on the adjourned date and ordered all parties to file and exchange all necessary
processes before the scheduled date.

Recall with Noble Reporters Media that Okorocha was arraigned by the EFCC on May 30 on 17-count charges bothering on laundering of public funds to the tune of N2.9 billion while serving as governor of Imo State.

However, in a swift reaction, the PDP ward chairman for Oguta A, Chukwuma Okoroafor denied claims of any suspension even as he said those behind the letter were fake, saying “Hon. Engr. Gerald Irona is our Pillar in Oguta Ward A. He is our Hero. We have no problems whatsoever with him.

“There is no pending issue whatsoever, not to talk of suspending our leading light. Those behind the fake letter are not members of the PDP. They are not known to the Party. They are being sponsored to embarrass our leader. We shall deal ruthlessly with anyone trying to bring our leader to ridicu

Uzodinma hails Imo people for receiving Buhari amid IPOB’s sit-at-home.

Advertisements

Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has lauded the people of the state for the warm reception accorded to President Muhammadu Buhari during his September 23 official visit to the state.

Uzodinma said this when he spoke after a Church service at the Government House Chapel in Owerri on Sunday.

He commended the people for their show of commitment by identifying with the President in spite of the sit-at-home order by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

The governor attributed the success of the visit to the prayers of the people.

“By the grace of God, Imo has been restored to peace and order,” he said.

He urged the people to jointly support the government for the overall good of the state.

”I call on all sons and daughters of our dear state to come out and be part of the government, the vanguard which is ready to change the old style of doing things, and embrace the new style of doing things, ” he said.

He commended the day’s homily that harped on sacrificial service for eternal gains, saying it was in tandem with the vision and mission of his “Shared Prosperity Government”, which was to put the interest of the people first before individual interests.

He urged the congregation to deeply reflect on the message while praying to God for the accomplishment of his administration’s goals and objectives.

The governor’s wife, Mrs Chioma Uzodinma and top officials led by the deputy governor, Prof. Placid Njoku, attended the service

Server Error: Tinubu doesn’t need to resubmit certificate to INEC – Uzodimma.

Advertisements

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma has chided Nigerians for raising what he termed unnecessary controversy over the basic school certificates of the presidential flagbearer of the All Progressive Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In his reaction to the controversy, he said if INEC boasts of a functional server, that information should be domiciled in the server which could be reproduced for all to verify.

Buttressing his claims, he said for a person who served as governor of Lagos State for two terms and ran as a Senator and won, issues surrounding his primary or secondary school certificates shouldn’t even arise.

The Imo State Governor, however, said given the timeline available for their candidate, INEC would be furnished with the necessary documents before the time elapses.

Uzodinma gave his views after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa Abuja on Tuesday, shortly before the President departed for Portugal for a state visit.

Recall that the APC Presidential flagbearer, Bola Tinubu has been facing backlash from the public over his failure to submit details of his basic school education.

Recall that while the controversies continue, Tinubu is faced with the dilemma of producing a substantive running mate, rather than a placeholder.

But reacting to the development, Uzodimna said, “Well, all the things so mentioned are entire party challenges that will be resolved. But for my presidential candidate, the issue of certificates shouldn’t even arise.

“In 1999 he contested elections and became the governor of Lagos, in 2003 he contested election second-term governor of Lagos. He ran and won as a senator in the country, where record keeping is efficient, and the INEC server is functional, he doesn’t need to do a fresh submission. However, if whatever he is supposed to submit is not handy, it is not late yet. I’m sure before the time he will submit whatever is required of him”.

Asked by State House Correspondents while it is proving difficult for Tinubu to produce a running mate, even with INEC’s deadline running out, he responded saying, “What do you mean by difficulty? Who told you? The deadline is not yet here until the period of submission is over and we are not able to put a running mate, that is the only way you can ask this kind of question.

“However, I know because of the strength of character in our party, being the ruling party and how important the party is to us including you here, I appreciate your concern but be rest assured that we will fill a complete ticket for the presidential contest”.

Uzodimma spells out “what is expected” of newly installed Archbishop, Ugorji.

Advertisements

The Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma has urged the newly installed Archbishop of Owerri Ecclesiastical Province, His Grace Lucius Ugorji to realize that the Catholic faithful are looking up to his new office for their spiritual wellbeing.

The governor who stated this during the installation of Bishop Ugorji as the Archbishop of Owerri Ecclesiastical Province on Thursday, June 23rd, 2022 said the Catholic faithful are expecting a lot from him in the state and beyond.

Uzodinma said besides,” you are taking over at a time when the nation appears to be at crossroads. Sadly, we are witnessing the highest level of insecurity and youth restiveness than ever before.

“We are also witnessing the aftermath of a global pandemic and economic hardships which continue to test the faith of many citizens of the country. Thus, much is indeed expected from you as the Shepherd of the faithful.

The governor explained that as children, we saw Bishops as Angels on earth. We desired and dreamt of the day we would be privileged to touch their cassocks each time they visited our parishes, which was not so frequent. You can therefore imagine my excitement and joy as I watch this colourful and divine installation from such a close distance.

“To this end, I warmly congratulate and felicitate our new Archbishop, His Grace, Lucius Ugorji on his installation. May I also seize the opportunity to, most sincerely, appreciate the out-going Archbishop, His Grace, A.J.V. Obinna for his eventful, remarkable, long tenure, which stretched from 1994 – 2022.

“Without a doubt, His Grace, Archbishop A. J. V Obinna, is leaving the Church he inherited in 1994, a bigger and stronger organization that is more responsive to the spiritual needs of the people.

” Thanks to his style of aggressive evangelism, under his watch, the Owerri Ecclesiastical Province witnessed the planting of parishes at the doorsteps of many faithful.

“It is also on record that he faced many battles and weathered a lot of storms during his tenure. Thus, the retiring Archbishop can be likened to St Paul in many ways. Therefore, I dare say to Your Grace, Archbishop Obinna: “You have fought a good fight, and you have finished the race”. May I join the rest of the church in wishing you the very best of retirement?

” Our new Archbishop, His Grace Lucius Ugorji, please permit me to humbly remind you of the obvious – much is expected from you. As you know, the Divine office of the Archbishop of Owerri Ecclesiastical Province is the spiritual headquarters of Catholics in Imo and Abia States. This implies that a great number of the Catholic faithful in these states and beyond, look upto to your new office for their spiritual wellbeing.”

Uzodinma said ‘ ‘as a Christian and a Catholic, I have tremendous respect for the church and her leadership. My administration shall, therefore, continue to partner with the church to ensure that we give quality service to the people

2023: S/East not meant for running mate – Uzodinma on Muslim-Muslim ticket

Advertisements

The Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma has said the South East was more interested in producing the next president of Nigeria than angling to be a candidate’s running mate.

Uzodinma stated this on Tuesday, while speaking to State House correspondents after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja

The Governor, however, said the choice of the running mate would be decided by APC presidential ticket, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and not governors.

Fielding a question on Muslim-Muslim tickets and the choice of a running mate, he said: “There are internal characteristics that the decision-maker may consider in the process of making his decision. The decision whether to choose Mr A or Mr B to be a running mate to a candidate is entirely that of the candidate.

“You started by saying the governors of the South-East are complaining of not having the opportunity of being a running mate anymore. But that is not the sole ambition of Southeasterners, let alone the governors. In the business of presidential primaries, there is no election for a vice-presidential candidate. The business there is just to elect a candidate.

“In that ballot paper, there is no room for delegates to vote for who will be your running mate. So, that explains why it is not a decision for the public. It is the decision of the candidate. The first thing to do is to let the candidate. Now a candidate has emerged.

“Now the candidate will factor into consideration some ideas and issues like how to create a spread. Spread is very important to be able to attract votes. So, the decision of who becomes your running mate, if I were the candidate, what will inform it is an action that will enable me to get the kind of votes I’m looking for, because the ultimate goal is to win the election.

“So, maybe I’ll start from the denomination, ethnicity, or followership. In this business of democracy, I think the number is what is very important. And there are certain things as a nation, we should not bring to the public discourse.

“Those things that are capable of creating divisiveness against national unity should not be encouraged. It does not mean that I will not remember that I come from a place but I must also be cautious about how to use where I come from in taking national decisions.

“The second question which is about a running mate, South-East is not meant for running mates. What we wanted as a zone was to be the president of Nigeria and I was convinced that it was proper for us to ask for it. But in this business, it is partisan democracy, the minority will have their view but the majority will have their way. In the wisdom of the delegates that elected the presidential candidate, a candidate has emerged, our party APC will come together, work for our candidate and produce the next president.”

When asked to comment on the alleged move by Tinubu to run with a Muslim-Muslim ticket, the Imo governor argued that the Nigerian Constitution does not dwell on religion as a factor in the selection of a presidential running mate

Rochas Okorocha freed on bail amid N2.9bn fraud.

Advertisements

The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to a presidential aspirant and former governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha.

He was granted bail on Tuesday by Justice Inyang Ekwo in the sum of N500 million and a surety in like sum.

Justice Inyang Ekwo gave the order while ruling on the bail application filed by Okorocha who currently represents Imo West senatorial district in the National Assembly.

The former governor is being tried on a 17-count charge to the tune of N2.9 billion filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

He was accused of conspiring with others, including a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and five companies to steal from public coffers, although he has since denied any wrongdoing.

Arrested Before Screening
Okorocha was arraigned alongside his co-defendants on Monday by the antigraft agency before Justice Ekwo in the nation’s capital.

During their arraignment, the former governor, the second defendant – Nyerere Anyim, and the companies indicted all pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Thereafter, counsel to Okorocha, Mr Okey Amaechi, prayed the court to release his client on bail, pending the determination of the case against him.

He drew the attention of the court to the fact that his client was roughly arrested last Tuesday before the screening of the presidential aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stressing that his ambition was at risk should he remain in detention.

On its part, the EFCC, through its lawyer, Mr Gbolahan Latona, informed the court that Okorocha raised some issues in his bail application that would require its response.

Justice Ekwo had, thereafter, adjourned the matter until Tuesday to hear Okorocha’s bail application and ordered that he should remain in EFCC custody.

Free But Restricted
When proceedings resumed today (Tuesday), Justice Ekwo ordered that the surety to be produced by Okorocha must be a responsible citizen who has landed property in the like sum of the bail granted to the presidential aspirant.

The judge also directed Okorocha to deposit his international passport with the registry of the court and should not travel outside the jurisdiction of the court without the court’s permission.

Similarly, he ordered the court registry to inform the Nigeria Immigration Service that Okorocha’s international passport was in its custody.

Justice Ekwo, however, ordered that the former governor should remain in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) until his bail conditions were met.

In his response, counsel to Okorocha, Okey Amaechi, informed the court that his client was ready to meet the bail conditions.

For Anyim, the court ruled that he should continue to enjoy the administrative bail earlier granted to him.

Akeredolu’s wife chased out of APC secretariat in Imo.

Advertisements

Betty Akeredolu, the first lady of Ondo State, who is vying for the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination for the Imo West senatorial constituency, was booted out from the party headquarters in Imo on May 28.

The Daily Trust said that this happened immediately after the First Lady led her supporters to the party’s secretariat to protest the party’s use of consensus to choose its candidate for the 2023 election.

According to reports, her followers went beserk and demanded the right to vote.

As the police attempted to calm the gathering, journalists and delegates who had also gathered for the exercise fled for their lives.

The incident prompted the police to remove Betty and her followers from the building so they could continue their protest.

The First Lady told reporters at the secretariat’s entrance that it is unfair to enable candidates to campaign before informing them that the party has picked the consensus option.

Betty said;

” I am insisting that we must go by delegate election. I cannot waste time and resources campaigning only to be told that candidates would emerge by consensus. We must vote and if I lose gallantly, I will accept the result.

“Consensus my foot. If men agree to consensus, I won’t agree. After spending my time and money, you are now telling me about consensus and all these while we have been campaigning and nobody talked about consensus.”

PDP indefinitely suspends primaries in Imo.

Advertisements

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo says it has suspended its primaries for the House of Assembly and House of Representatives indefinitely, over unreconciled delegates list.

A statement by the Legal Advisor of the party in the state, Mr Kessinger Ikeokwu on Sunday, attributed the non-conduct of the primaries to confusion caused by the National Assembly.

Ikeoku explained that Imo would not vote along with other states who were now voting with their three man and one man national delegates.

He said: “Please note that the reason for the suspension of the PDP house of assembly and house of representatives primaries in Imo was a result of the confusion that arose from the error of the national assembly in the country.

“This is hinged on Section 84 (8) of the Electoral Act which inadvertently led to the exclusion of over 80 per cent of delegates ordinarily meant to vote at the primaries.

“The Imo PDP case became compounded because it hadn’t tidied up its three man ad hoc delegates, who ought to vote at the primaries due to pending litigations.

“Every preparation was made for us to use our statutory delegates to vote, before the national assembly saw the error in Section 84 of the Amended Electoral Act, 2022, which excluded the statutory delegates.

“What it means is that it created a situation of chaos for Imo because we have not concluded our elected delegates,” he explained.

He urged party faithful to ignore fifth columnists writing about crisis within the party.

According to him, there is no crisis, as the leadership of the party at all levels are working together to make sure our ad hoc delegates are cleared to vote at our primaries on a later date to be announced.

He assured them that as soon as President Muhammadu Buhari signed the amended Electoral Act, 2022, the state delegate list would be properly constituted to vote at the primaries.
