I’ve gotten 20 nominations, zero Grammy wins – Snoop Dogg laments.

Legendary American rapper, Calvin Cordozar Broadus aka Snoop Dogg has lamented that he has about 20 Grammy nominations with 0 win.

He took to his Instagram page to complain.

This comes few days after the Recording Academy concluded the 65th Grammy Awards Ceremony.

Snoopy Dogg shared a screenshot of his colleagues in the rap industry who have been nominated several times for Grammy awards and won their categories.

The list of rappers includes Jay Z and Kanye West with 24 wins respectively, Kendrick Lamar with 17, Eminem with 15, and Pharell with 13 Grammy win.

He wrote: “Snoop dogg. 20 nominations. 0 wins.”

‘No response,’ Toni told TMZ. ‘Maybe if I said, “Oh, your dress was beautiful,” maybe I woulda got a response.’

After unleashing her tirade to TMZ, Tokyo Toni concluded with a few final thoughts – none of which were positive.

Tokyo Toni might have gained a whole new fanbase in the Kardashians, since the family recently defeated Blac Chyna in court over the holidays, bringing an end to their five-year legal battle against her.

The mother-of-two was engaged to Rob Kardashian in 2016 until they ended their tumultuous relationship the following year.

Chyna shares a six-year-old daughter named Dream with Rob and a 10-year-old son named King Cairo with the rapper Tyga.

It’s a proud moment for Nigerian international music star, Temilade Openiyi, better known as Tems, as she makes history as the first Nigerian female singer to win a Grammy award.

The 27-year-old Nigerian music sensation won the “Best Melodic Rap Performance” category at the 2023 Grammys on Sunday night, February 6, for her part in “Wait for U,” by Future featuring Drake, beating DJ Khalid’s “Beautiful” and Kendric Lamar’s “Die Hard,” among others.

Grammys: Jay-Z Performs “GOD DID” With Lil Wayne, Dj Khaled, & More.

On Sunday night, Jay-Z took over the 2023 Grammy Awards with a performance of his collaboration with DJ Khaled, “GOD DID.” During the event, he was joined by John Legend, Lil Wayne, Fridayy, Khaled, and Rick Ross.

The song was performed outside of the Crypto.com stadium, adjacent to a set dinner table. “We performed an 8-minute song at the Grammys!” Khaled made a statement to the cameras.

“GOD DID” dropped back in August 2022 as the title track from Khaled’s thirteenth studio album. Jay-Z handles four minutes of the star-studded song’s runtime. The track peaked at 17 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

In addition to performing “GOD DID,” the group was also nominated for Song Of The Year, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap Song with the track. Despite this, “GOD DID” failed to win in any of the three categories. The nominations left Jay-Z in a tie with his wife, Beyoncé, for the most in Grammys history. The couple both have 88 nominations throughout their careers. Beyoncé, however, become the artist with the most wins on Sunday night, reaching 32 total Grammy awards.

It was about damn time Lizzo and Harry Styles get together for some late-night chit-chat.

The amigos reunited on Feb. 5, 2023, at the 2023 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, less than a year after their epic Coachella performance in 2022. At the ceremony, which was hosted by Trevor Noah, cameras caught the couple sharing an embrace. Lizzo and Harry, who were sat next to each other inside the event, even took selfies together, confirming that relationship will always be as strong as hell.

On Sunday, at the 2023 Grammy Awards, Iggy Azalea posted a new photo of herself in a swimsuit on Instagram. The announcement comes only weeks after the singer collaborated with OnlyFans to release her Hotter Than Hell multimedia project. The page gives admirers access to the Australian artist’s images, videos, music, graphics, and poems.

Hotter Than Hell will continue on OnlyFans through December 2023, encompassing the release of Azalea’s upcoming fourth studio album. Azalea is set to release the untitled project in the summer of 2023. Subscriptions to Azalea’s OnlyFans (onlyfans.com/iggyazalea) cost $25 per month.

Drake Wins Grammy Award Despite Shunning 2023 Ceremony.

Drake ended the 2023 Grammy Awards on Sunday night with a win despite not submitting any songs. Future’s “Wait For U,” which also features Tems, received the prize for Best Melodic Rap Performance. Future defeated Kendrick Lamar’s “Die Hard,” DJ Khaled’s “Beautiful,” Jack Harlow’s “First Class,” and Latto’s “Big Energy (Live)” to win.

“Wait For U” was released on Future’s ninth studio album, I Never Liked You, back in April 2022. The hit song debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Despite no submissions, Drake released plenty of music that could’ve qualified for the Grammys. He dropped Honestly, Nevermind as well as Her Loss in 2022.

As for Drake’s issue with the Recording Academy, he previously withdrew his music from the 64th Annual Grammy Awards. He was already up for Best Rap Album (Certified Lover Boy) and Best Rap Performance (“Way 2 Sexy”). Going back further, Drake once voiced his frustration with the Recording Academy in a social media post from November 2020. He was unhappy that The Weeknd‘s After Hours album wasn’t up for any awards that year.

“I think we should stop allowing ourselves to be shocked every year by the disconnect between impactful music and these awards and just accept that what once was the highest form of recognition may no longer matter to the artist that exists now and the ones that come after,” he wrote on Instagram at the time.

Quavo Honors Takeoff At Grammys “Without You” Performance.

Takeoff was present at the Grammys this year. The Recording Academy invited Quavo to perform an emotional rendition of his song “Without You” during the In Memoriam section. The song was released as a homage to Takeoff, who died in early November.

The Maverick City Music choir backed Quavo during his stunning performance at the award show while images of Takeoff and Quavo appeared on the screen. Additionally, Take’s chain, which Quavo wore to the award show, dangled from the mic stand before Qua’ held it in the air. Immediately, fans praised Quavo for his performance at the Grammys. Some said that they got emotional while watching it.

It marks Quavo’s first performance since Takeoff’s death in November. However, he popped out on a few occasions recently, such as Diddy’s NYE party. Shortly after, he stormed the field at the Georgia Bulldogs championship game to celebrate their triumphant win.

After the funeral of Takeoff, Quavo penned a heartfelt message on Instagram. As he and Take recently embarked on a new chapter in their careers as a duo, Quavo explained how they were always by each other’s side since they were kids. He echoed a similar sentiment at Take’s funeral in Atlanta.

Along with Takeoff, the In Memoriam segment paid tribute to several artists that tragically died in 2022. Coolio, Tame One, DJ Kay Slay, and Stephen “tWitch” Boss were among those included. However, the Grammys appeared to face backlash for leaving out a few names, specifically, members of the hip-hop community. Going down memory lane, Tems in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine stated how she would always listen to several prominent artistes who she now works with. She also spoke of how her ‘Higher’ song was chosen by Future and his team for a remake.

Speaking about her Grammy win, the singer said, “It is incredible, I get to work with people that five years ago were on my playlist. I was jamming to them and now I am working with them, it is such a pleasure and I feel like this is just the beginning.

Taking to the stage in Las Vegas, Billie was one of the night’s stand-outs thanks to her live rendition of the title track from her number one album Happier Than Ever.

She began the performance by singing Happier Than Ever’s slow opening section in close-up, while sporting a top paying tribute to Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, who died last month at the age of 50.

As the track progressed, viewers saw that she was singing inside of an upside-down living room, in a nod to the song’s music video.

After making it onto the roof of the makeshift house, Billie then rocked out with her brother Finneas, while they were both pelted with rain.

Billie went into this year’s Grammys with seven nominations to her name, though she ended up going home empty-handed.

We can’t imagine that was something she’s too upset about, though. At the past two Grammys, Billie has scooped an impressive seven awards, and last week celebrated a victory at the Oscars thanks to her contribution to the No Time To Die soundtrack.

The Grammys had already planned on a limited show for 2021, forgoing an audience completely and only allowing presenters and performers on-site during the show.

The 2021 edition of the Grammys has been postponed due to concerns over the spread of COVID-19, according Rolling Stone.

It was originally scheduled for January 31.

Organizers have not confirmed a new date, but it is believed they are aiming to hold the event sometime in March.

Nominated artists wouldn’t have been allowed on-site either, likely leading to a situation similar to the 2020 Emmys where nominees appeared and accepted awards remotely.

The 2021 Grammy nominations were led by Beyoncé who picked up nine nominations, while Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift and Roddy Ricch followed behind with six nods each.

Angelique Kidjo, a Beninese singer, has met with Burna Boy, Nigeria’s Afrofusion singer, and Bose Ogulu, his mum, days after winning the Grammys.

The 59-year-old actress and activist, who is known for her diverse musical influences, appeared to have paid a visit to the home of the ‘African Giant’ singer.

The duo took to their social media platforms on Friday to share pictures they took brimming with smiles.

In one of the videos on social media platforms, the talented songster can be seen discussing with Burna Boy and his mum, while the duo listened attentively.

Kidjo had snagged the Recording Academy’s 2020 ‘Best World Music Album’ award in the same award category in which Burna Boy was nominated for his ‘African Giant’ project.

While receiving her gramophone statuette on Sunday, Kidjo had dedicated her win to Burna Boy, describing him as being among those changing the narrative of music-making in the continent.

“He’s among those artistes from Africa that are changing the way that our continent is perceived and the way that Africa’s has been the bedrock of every music,” the four-time Grammy winner had said.

Burna had, following the loss, reassured his fans around the globe of his commitment to music-making, charging the world to get ready for his comeback.

Reacting to the ‘Ye’ crooner’s loss, Nigerians had flared while Naomi Campbell, an English actress, had criticized the Grammy organisers for failing to recognize Afrobeats as an award category.

“Afrobeats is a musical genre played on mainstream and primetime radio not only across the continent of Africa but across the world,” Campbell wrote in an open letter to the Academy.

“Recently, the genre was put in your ‘World Music’ category at the 2020 Grammys. This misrepresentation diminishes an entire genre in which such a high standard of talent has emerged.

“Did the world get to vote for this award? What will this neglectful categorization of music mean to individual cultures who contribute their blood, sweat, tears, and every level of their creativity?”

Grammy winner Angelique Kidjo is currently in Lagos, Nigeria, and she visited Smooth FM this morning for an interview.

While saying hello to the staff at the studio, Angelique spoke fluent Yoruba.

Nigerian singer Asa also visited the studio and both women were happy to see each other.

Angelique is seen drawing Asa in for a long hug before complimenting her footwear. They also spoke Yoruba to each other.

Angelique Kidjo, who will be performing in Lagos, Nigeria, said it will be her first time performing in the state.

“This is my first time in Lagos… My first time playing in Lagos. The last time I was here was in ’93. I left here at 13 years old.”

She added that her father was “too afraid” of her mum to bring her here because he feared if she comes here, she won’t want to go back to resume school.

Popular model, Naomi Campbell has written an open letter to the organizers of Grammy Awards after Burna Boy lost to Angelique Kidjo at the 2020 edition of the awards.

Naomi Campbell who praised Angelique for spreading light and opening minds through her music, stated that Burna Boy has not been given the accolades he truly deserves due to lack of education.

The supermodel averred that categorization of afrobeats in the ‘World Music’ category of the 2020 Grammys, diminished an entire genre in which such a high standard of talent has emerged.

Naomi who queried the recording academy on the voting pattern of the category, urged them to use the next 363 days to reassess and reflect on their perspective of ‘World Music.’

Billie Eilish, an 18-year-old US singer-cum-songwriter, earned the most awards at the 2020 Grammys with a total of five gramophone statuettes.

The 62nd Academy Awards held on Sunday, with Nigeria’s Burna Boy losing out to Angelique Kidjo, a Beninese vocalist, in the ‘Best World Album’ category.

Eilish had been nominated in six categories, including the ‘Record of the Year’, ‘Album of the Year’, ‘Song of the Year’ and ‘Best New Artist’, for her ‘When We Sleep, Where Do We Go’ album.

Finneas O’Connell, her brother-cum-producer, also won two Grammys while Paak Anderson, American rapper, and Lizzo, won two awards each.

Michelle Obama also snagged an award for the ‘Best Spoken Word Album’ on account of her audiobook for ‘Becoming’, a 2018 memoir.

Her win gives the Obama home its third Grammy award after Barack Obama, former US president, had already secured two Grammys in the same category for his books.

Burna Boy has been dominating headlines since last weekend and although he did not win the coveted Grammy Award, he has won the hearts of many fans across Africa and indeed the world.

The Nigerian Singer had his compatriots solidly behind him prior to the awards night and he received more support even after the results were announced that he did not win.

Highlight of the evening was when the singer whom he lost to, Angelique Kidjo gave a powerful speech while dedicating the award to the ‘Ye’ crooner.

Popular South African Rapper, AKA has reacted to the Grammy Award loss of Afrobeats singer Burna Boy.

The 62nd Grammy Awards which held last night in Los Angeles, California, saw Burna Boy lose to fellow African and legendary singer, Angelique Kidjo, with her album Ceila.

As soon as the news broke, trolls stormed AKA’s Twitter page to hear what he will say about the loss Burna Boy suffered.

Recall that Burna Boy and AKA went at each other over the xenophobic attacks inflicted on Nigerians by South Africans in their country.

With the Grammies over and Burna Boy going home, many expect AKA to express excitement.

However, he changed that narrative when he tweeted thus ;

“I never hated Burna Boy. All I did was stand up for my country. I think it’s time to move past this narrative. It’s tired. Like I said, even a nomination is a huge achievement”.

“What you should have done is focus on the positive instead of thinking about me and my country. In any case, Burna is still a champion. We still consider him a winner”.
