Theory wrestled and Dolph Ziggler moments later and he would have won the match but he proceeded to send Ziggler into the steps at ringside. The referee ultimately disqualified Theory for not listening to the referee’s pleas to stop. After the match, Theory tossed around furniture at ringside and officials ran out to stop him from continuing the attack on Ziggler.

During the match, it was noted by the announcers that Theory no longer has the phone for selfies. He is also more serious and he has dropped some of the goofy things his character was doing under Vince McMahon’s regime

Mr McMahon sees young John Cena in Austin Theory.

Advertisements

Austin Theory has been pushed strongly since returning to the main roster last year during the Draft as Vince McMahon is very high on the young star.

WrestleVotes reported today that a WWE source stated he anticipates bigger things in the future of Theory as the WWE Chairman sees him as a young John Cena, WWE’s biggest star since Steve Austin and The Rock.

“Now that his push is in full effect, source states he anticipates bigger & bigger things for Theory. A person with direct knowledge states Vince “sees a young John Cena in Theory” and will “give the kid everything he needs to be successful.”

Although Roman Reigns is the current top star in the company, McMahon is looking to make new top guys. As previously reported, Theory and Bron Breakker are two of the names that are being looked at by management as stars that can carry the company at some point.

When Cena was coming up, Batista was also being groomed as a top star. They both won their first World Titles at WrestleMania 21 as Cena beat JBL to become the WWE Champion while Batista defeated Triple H to become the World Heavyweight Champion.

Theory has previously stated that he looked up to Cena when he was growing up and would want to retire him.

Austin Theory had more talents, gifts than I ever had: John Cena.

Advertisements

John Cena has given some advice and kind words to Austin Theory, the current WWE United States Champion. This past weekend, Theory shared a video of him taunting a young Cena fan at a live event and he pointed at the championship before telling the fan that it makes him better than Cena.

Theory tagged Cena in the post and wished him a Happy Birthday as Cena turned 45 years old on Saturday. This was all in fun as Theory was a big fan of the former WWE Champion while growing up. Cena reacted to the post by writing the following:

“Everyone understands that you have far more talent, strength, and gifts than I ever had. Don’t apologize for that. Ever,” said Cena.” An apology should come 20 years from now if you fail to provide the EFFORT needed to turn your potential into your legacy. I hope that day never comes.”

As previously reported, Vince McMahon sees a young Cena in Theory and is high on the United States Champion. There have been comparisons made between Cena and Theory as they both held their first title on the main roster as the United States Champion.

Austin Theory now United States Champion; defeats Finn Bálor.

Advertisements

After several months of trying to impress Vince McMahon, Austin Theory (now known as Theory) has won the WWE United States Champion. Theory defeated Finn Balor to win the title on Monday Night Raw.

After the match, Theory celebrated in the ring with some of the heel roster and then he went to the stage to celebrate with McMahon.

Theory is being pushed as the next big star and Vince McMahon reportedly believes that he can be the next John Cena. Theory is on a similar path as John Cena. When Cena started in WWE, he lost matches on TV for months and was eventually booked to win the United States Title, which was considered a stepping stone to the World Championship.

As for Balor, WrestlingNews.co reported in January that the company no longer sees him as a top star and his role is to help put over younger talent.

Austin Theory speaks on moment he discovered working with Steve Austin.

Advertisements

On this week’s “My Love Letter To Wrestling,” the season finale for this podcast until September, both Austin Theory and Jeff Hardy appeared.

Austin Theory talking about being a part of WrestleMania 38:

“I had to take that in. That was my biggest match that I’ve ever had and the biggest crowd I’ve ever performed in front of,” Theory said. “I would say it was my first WrestleMania because the first experience I had was inside of the Performance Center, and we all know how that was. Getting introduced to the ring by Mr. McMahon, who says you’re the future Universal Champion, that’s amazing.”

“Then to get in there with somebody like Pat McAfee, who has a huge following and obviously you can tell he’s got a crazy connection to the audience, which is amazing, just makes everything easier. Then also, we got to save the best for last Stone Cold Steve Austin, yeah, he stunned my ass to the moon.”

Theory talking about meeting Steve Austin:

“I’m walking down the hall and this is the second day of WrestleMania. So you know, we’re probably a few hours away from the show. Stone Cold is getting ready to get on a golf cart because the arena is so big, so they’re just driving it around. He had somebody driving them around, but he stopped and he was talking to someone. I was like, well, I got to introduce myself,” Theory said.

“This is my first time meeting Stone Cold. So I just introduced myself and everything. He hangs onto my hand and he looks me in the eyes, and he’s like, ‘I’ll be seeing you later tonight’, and I was like, ‘What?’ Like, that was pretty cool. Then a little bit later, I got pulled aside and it was super private, but basically was told what was going to happen. I was just like, ‘Wait, what? Like what’s going on?’”

Jeff Hardy was asked if it’s hard to balance his wrestling career with his family life:

“It can be tough sometimes, especially before the pandemic. They’re getting back to that now and it can be hard especially with kids. My wife has been my life saver. She’s about my spirit. She’s my God. She’s my everything,” Hardy said.

“Like, all the stuff I’ve been through in my personal life, and she’s stuck by my side. Oh my gosh, she has been amazing. Now we have two beautiful little girls, the Hardy girls, 11 and 5.”

Austin Theory breaks silence over changes made to WWE NXT.

Advertisements

WWE made a lot of big changes to the NXT brand last September when they rebranded it as NXT 2.0 with the idea to use younger stars instead of veterans.

They’ve also changed the presentation of the show from the stage to graphics and storylines. Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Pro Wrestling Podcast reported last month that the USA Network is happy with the current ratings of NXT 2.0.

Austin Theory recently spoke with Wrestling Inc about the criticism that the company has received regarding the changes as there is a lot more focus on character development instead of in-ring work.

“So, I know there’s a lot of hate, and there’s also some love for that,” said Theory. “I just think people don’t understand when change is happening, and they don’t really like that. But once they get used to that, they find comfort and enjoy.”

Theory said that there is more character development and he sees a lot of rising stars in positions that he thinks the brand needs.

“There’s always going to be some that don’t like it [criticism], But at the end of the day it’s a product, it’s a business, and what’s going to make the best superstars for the future. I think that’s something that’s heavily engaged on character development. To me, NXT 2.0 is great.”

Thus far in 2021, NXT has been averaging between 551,000 and 685,000 viewers on USA Network.

WrestleMania: Steve Austin wrestled an actual match against Kevin Owens.

Advertisements

WWE WrestleMania 38 closed with the KO Show segment with Kevin Owens and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

There were massive boos and “Austin” chants when Owens grabbed the microphone. Owens started out by talking about the things he said about Austin and Texas. Owens said Texas would be the ass of North America. Owens then apologized to all Texans for telling the “absolute God’s honest truth about your pathetic state.”

KO said he would introduce his guest when he was ready. He proceeded to call Austin the worst role model in the history of WWE and he will look him in the eye to say how much he sucks because he won’t do a ‘damn thing’ and he’ll sit in the chair and take it. He also teased that he would pour bear on his “stupid bald head.”

The glass broke and Austin made his way out to the stage. He wore his classic 3:16 shirt and jean shorts. Austin teased walking down to the ring but he walked out to get his 4 wheeler and he rode it around the ring. Austin destroyed the set as he went around to do his corner poses on the turnbuckle but KO cut the music off to say that he wouldn’t let Austin take over his show.

Austin and KO sat in their seats and the interview got started. Austin called out Owens for looking like a jackass and running down the great state of Texas “you stupid son of a bitch.” KO said Texas is hot in the summer and flat and uninspiring. He said the people of Texas wear dumb belt buckles and the people are dumb. KO said he would have moved to Mexico if he was forced to grow up in Texas.

KO told Austin not to be the stereotypical, crude, impolite Texan and he will be the bigger man. KO told Austin that he lied about wanting a talk. KO said he wants a fight. He challenged Austin to a match. He said Austin’s back, knees, and neck were bad 19 years ago and he won’t accept but he would love a No Holds Barred match right now. KO said Austin knows he can’t beat him. He said Austin should stop embarrassing himself and he can get on his little golf cart and back to his “stupid ranch.”

Austin looked around as the crowd cheered. Austin said he had his first match in Dallas, Texas and he could have his last match in Dallas, Texas. Austin asked for a “hell yea” if the fans wanted to see him against “this sack of shit.” Austin asked for a referee to get the match started. The bell rang and they stood face to face. They traded punches and Austin stomped the mudhole. Austin whipped KO into the turnbuckle and he fell on his back. Austin drank a beer and then stomped Owens in the other corner of the ring. Austin then tossed KO out of the ring. Austin reversed an Irish whip and hit KO with a clothesline. Austin dropped him on the barricade and then he raked the eyes as fans chanted “you still got it.” KO then sent Austin’s head into the ring post.

KO pulled a table from under the ring, KO tried to send him into it but Austin reversed and KO’s back crashed through the table. Austin tossed KO into the crowd and they brawled. Austin attempted a suplex on the floor but KO countered and he suplexed Austin. The brawl continued and Owens kneed Austin in the stomach. They made their way back to ringside. KO tried a dive off the barricade but Austin caught him and slammed him through the announcer’s table. Austin drank some beer and then punched KO on top of the table. Austin drank some more beer and spit it on KO. KO tried to escape on the 4 wheeler but Austin caught him with punches to the back. Austin got on the 4 wheeler and drove to the stage so he and Owens could brawl there. Austin hit KO with a suplex on the stage. He brought him to the other side of the stage and did it again.

Austin brought KO back into the ring and then he drank some more beer. KO hit the stunner and he went for the pin but Austin kicked out. Austin went to use a chair but it bounced off the rope and onto his head. Austin hit the stunner and pinned Owens. Owens was escorted out to the back by Dallas police as Austin celebrated with a lot of beer. Austin grabbed the mic and said it’s good to be from Dallas, Texas because that’s the bottom line, Cause Stone Cold Said So.

Austin invited Byron Saxton into the ring so they could drink and so he could give Saxton the stunner. Austin’s brother went in the ring to have a beer and to hug his brother. Austin did not embarrass himself at all.

WWE Raw: Finn Bálor defends against Austin Theory.

Austin Theory has been opportunistic on The Road to WrestleMania, but Pat McAfee has a few tricks up his sleeve.

As Mr. McMahon’s protégé battled Finn Bálor, the SmackDown commentator continually tormented his upcoming opponent at The Showcase of the Immortals.

Theory took his eye off the prize, as McAfee’s dance moves opened the door for the United States Champion to roll up the antagonistic Superstar for the win.
