The Osun State Government has alleged another looting of public properties by the previous administration.

According to a press statement on Monday by Olawale Rasheed, the spokesperson to Governor Ademola Adeleke, the discovery pertained to the Osun State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.

The government which alleged that the lodge was stripped of all valuables added that the items carted away were acquired with public funds by officials of the Adegboyega Oyetola Administration.

The government noted that the Osun Governor’s Lodge was also in a similar state as the looted Deputy Governor’s quarters at the Government House Oke-Fia, Osogbo.

According to the statement: “On the physical inspection team was the Chairman of State Assets Inventory and Recovery Committee, Dr B.T Salam and other top government functionaries. The lodge was stripped of all valuables acquired with public funds by those officials of the past administration.

“From the main house to the service flats and up to the boys’ quarters, clear indications of valuables removed can be observed. Items such as television sets, chairs, foams, electrical fittings, bed sheets, spoons and cutleries, among other valuables were illegally removed from the lodge. Every utility vehicle procured for use in the lodge was also carted away from the building.

“The lodge was in a terrible state and similar to the way we found the Deputy Governor’s quarters and others at the Government House in Osogbo following the brazen looting of that facility.

“We are shocked by this lust for materialism as evidenced in the unexplained pilfering of public properties by officials of the past administration. Civil servants in the Abuja lodge confirmed the pillaging of the state’s assets by Mr Oyetola’s men but said they were powerless in stopping them.

“That this happened in the Federal Capital Territory is another peep into the gross abuse of office by officials of the past administration.

“Those who think we were playing politics with the revelation only just need to see the level of theft of public assets that we found on ground.

“This matter, just like those before it, is being looked into by the Assets Inventory and Recovery Committee and we want to assure the public of this government’s firm resolve to recover every stolen asset.”

The statement which revealed that the Assets Recovery Committee is working round the clock to track and recover all looted assets warned individuals in possession of public properties to return them forthwith.

Recall with Noble Reporters Media that the state’s Deputy Governor, Kola Adewusi had alleged that the Deputy Governor’s Quarters in the Government House, Osogbo was looted and valuables carted away before the assumption of office of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration of Ademola Adeleke.

Reacting, former Deputy Governor, Benedict Alabi denied looting the quarters.

Alabi added that he would not be dragged into the matter as he left the quarters long before the handover date of November 27, 2022.

Also, reacting, the spokesperson of the previous governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, Ismail Omipidan added that all properties in the Government House were handed over to security personnel and inventories taken.

Responding, the state government accused Omipidan of dragging security personnel into the matter.

We’ll continue with LG reforms – Adeleke.

Osun State governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke has restated his commitment to continue with local government reforms.

Senator Adeleke also promised that his administration would restore accountability and transparency in the operations of the local governments to block excesses and corruption

This, the governor-elect said, will significantly guarantee the well-being and improved living conditions of the people of the State at the grassroot level.

Senator Adeleke, who made this known on Monday in Osogbo while receiving reports from a subcommittee of the PDP transition committee, described local governments as the building blocks of good governance.

In a statement signed by Olawale Rasheed, his spokesperson, Adeleke also affirmed that his administration when sworn into office on November 27, 2022, will fulfil his electoral promises by ensuring true autonomy for the local government system.

In his words, “I want to commend the various sub-committees for the fantastic job. Let me restate here that local government reforms are so dear to my heart because of so many reasons. First, a strong local government system is the best way to ensure grassroots development. Two, poverty alleviation is largely a local matter. So local governments with required resources will speed up prosperity. More importantly, competition will become a new way among the council chairman.

”I remember those days when council chairmen competed for commissioning of projects. Locally elected leaders built roads, developed agriculture, markets and transport terminals. I look forward to the return of that era when council chairmen will fill the Governor’s schedule with project commissioning.

“We will not support autonomy that encourages defrauding the people. We will ensure that resources and responsibilities devolved to the local governments in line with the Constitution are handled in compliance with due process and anti-corruption laws,” the governor-elect stated.

Committees, which submitted reports at the meeting session, included government structure, legislative relations, public service, local governments and workers’ sector.

Prophet Bisi Olujobi reveals prophetic analysis on Peter Obi, Adeleke.

Advertisements

Prophet Bisi Olujobi has advised Osun governor-elect, Ademola Adeleke to ensure good governance in the state.

His statement on Monday noted that Adeleke was ordained “to re-write the history of Osun State with a golden pen”.

“That is the main reason God chose him above others, the people have suffered enough.

“God and men will not forgive him if he does otherwise”, the leader of Wisdom Church of God International warned.

Olujobi however called for supplications for Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP).

The cleric advised his supporters worldwide to embark on “strategic warfare prayer against assassination”.

“There will be an attempt on his life. If they pray well, it will be averted”, he said.

On the 2023 governorship battle in Lagos, the prophet called the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) standard bearer “a joker”.

“Olajide Adediran (Jandor) is a joker, he will lose gallantly unless an immediate step is taken.”

Olujobi added that he sees former Imo governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha “in chains”.

“Okorocha needs to pray very hard for him not to suffer heavy loss politically.”

On Ike Ekweremadu, the religious leader said the Senator would not “have an upper hand” in the case in the United Kingdom.

“It has been settled spiritually against him except he prays very well”, the statement added
