EFCC rearraigns influencer Adeherself over alleged N7.9mn fraud. [Video]

Social media influencer and comedienne, Adedamola Adewale alias Adeherself has been re-arraigned by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission for alleged N7.9 million internet fraud, today, Wednesday, February 8.

Adeherself and two others were charged with conspiring to gain money by false pretenses, attempting to get money under false pretenses, and retaining proceeds of criminal behavior. Watch Video Here

They were accused of attempting to get $6, 000 from one Mr. Joseph Rumoro under the guise that the money was for the purchase of his passport, visa, and tax payment.

Adeherself was accused of keeping the N7.9 million in cybercrime earnings in her bank account. Watch Video Here

Mr. Samuel Daji, counsel for the EFCC, informed the court that the matter had been re-assigned after she pleaded not guilty to the allegations. He asked the court to remand the defendant awaiting the start of the trial.

He said;

“My lord, this case was heard before Justice Sherifat Solebo before she retired, and when it was transferred to this honorable court, I informed my learned friend that the case would be coming up on Jan. 25. Watch Video Here
He said he thought it was the day before.
This is a matter that is starting afresh before your lordship, and we do not know if the sureties, who stood for her earlier, are dead or not.
It is proper for the defense to apply afresh for bail before your lordship.”

However, Mr. Kassim Molade, the counsel of the influencer, objected to the EFCC lawyer’s petition. He requested the court to keep the defendant’s bail granted by Solebo until the submission of a new bail application. Watch Video Here

Molade stated that the defendant has not been missing from the court and is ready to stand trial.

After hearing the argument, Justice Mojisola Dada reinstated Adeherself’s previous bail, pending the submission of a new bail application by the defense counsel. Watch Video Here

Dada further directed the defendant to provide a bank statement within three weeks. She said that failing to do so would result in the court ordering her remand

Gist+: EFCC presents first witness against Adeherself.

The Economic and Finanacial Crimes Commission on Wednesday presented one Samuel Orie, a Compliance Officer with Guaranty Trust Bank Plc as its first prosecution witness, against Social media Influencer Adedamola Adewale, also known as Adeherself.

The anti graft body stated that Adeherself was re-arraigned for alleged internet fraud before Justice Sherifat Solebo of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja.

“Adewale, 20, is being prosecuted on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy to obtain by false pretence, attempt to obtain by false pretence and retention of proceeds of a criminal conduct,” EFCC said in statement

EFCC had on June 16 announced the arrest of Adewale alongside four others for alleged internet fraud.

The commission said Adewale,and her accomplice, Lamina Hamzat Ajibola, were arrested at the Agungi area of Lekki, Lagos State.

EFCC, however, stated that Adewale was charged to court based on evidence found in her possession.

She was eventually released on 24th July after meeting her bail terms

Momph expresses displeasure at the amount of inane comments on blogs and all over social media spew by Nigerians youth. He also stated that he visited Adeherself to calm her down and encourage her about life’s trials.

In his own words, he wrote;

”Nigerians online are quicker to judge you for whatever allegation leveled against you without finding out the truth. This beautiful young soul @adeherself has been accused of an offence which is not eve strong enough to call her a criminal seeing the comments on blogs yesterday just because i visited her just to calm her down and encourage her about trials of life.. All i see is jobless nigerian youths saying trash just because you don’t know what @adeherself has pass through. Stay strong beautiful angel . You will be fine soon. God bless you.”

Recall with Noble Reporters Media that Adeherself, who is a social media influencer, has been locked up at EFCC custody since July 7 for alleged possession of fraudulent documents. She finally regained her freedom on July 24 after meeting her bail terms.

Mompha who has also been a guest at the EFCC holding cell, went to pay Adeherself a visit yesterday 1st August and shared the video on his Instatories.

Alleged fraudster and popular comedienne, Adeherself, has finally taken to her social media page to express her emotions after she was remanded in EFCC’s custody in the first week of July.

Adeherself disclosed she is currently in so much pain and that she is going through moments she never dreamed of but went on to give herself some kind of encouragement and assured fans things will get back to normalcy.

She also asked for forgiveness from fans for not giving them updates on her situation and ended by expressing her undying love for all.

She wrote;

If there’s one thing I’ve learnt in life, it’s to never give up no matter how hard things may get in life…. I Am Adeherself, yes I’m cheerful, happy, playful, energetic and free spirited, I wunt deny the fact that right now I’m in pains and presently going through a phase I never imagined I could ever face in life 💔

    Nigerian influencer, Adedamola Adewale Rukayat, also known as Adeherself has thanked her fans for their love and support after she was arrested and subsequently released.

    The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned her before Justice Sherifat Solebo of the Special Offence Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos State, on a one-count charge of possession of fraudulent documents.

    The defendant was arrested following the intelligence received by the Commission on the activities of some young men allegedly involved in internet fraud in the Lekki axis of Lagos.

    Instagram influencer, Adeherself has thanked all those who helped her while she was in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

    Adeherself was arrested alongside some yahoo boys for cyber crimes and has since been charged to court.

    Released on bail, she appeared in a video with her mum in which she was short of words to say while thanking her well-wishers.
