The minister said: “We are a few days to the election now, less than three weeks. We have momentum. The APC will win this election. We are not looking at a coronation. We know it’s a competition, but the opposition is clearly behind. The reason is simple.

“Election, as we all say, see is a game of numbers. Isn’t it? But in those numbers, one of the cardinal problems that the opposition has had is that they have divided. So it won’t add up. The main opposition today, Labour Party, NNPP and PDP were one side in 2019. The totality of their votes was still around three million votes short of the poll by which we won.

“If you were not enough when you were together, how can you be enough when you are broken into three? Are you bringing more new people in from outside Nigeria? It is not going to add up. It’s just that simple. People have made up their minds. I am happy that a lot more people, especially in the mid-cadre, have shown interest in the elections.

“In persons, we have done 5,000 sample pools and APC is clearly ahead. But I won’t tell you about the percentage difference. The number of undecided voters is now averaging below 5%. We are getting to the stage where campaigns will begin to lose steam.

“Most of the promises we made, we are still working on them, evolving and making progress. In some places, we admit that we need to do more. This is why we feel that we will be entrusted with the capacity to do to complete what we have started because people can see the difference. We haven’t finished solving the problem. But there’s a stark difference in momentum that will move the needle.”

The statement titled, “My Purported Endorsement of Peter Obi” reiterated her unalloyed support for PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

She stated that Atiku is the favourite to win the 25th February 2023 election because of his nationwide support.

According to the statement: “It has come to my notice that an online blog has been circulating articles claiming that I have endorsed the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, in the forthcoming February poll. The Online blog further attributed statements that may translate to adopting Mr Peter Obi as my candidate for the election. I want to state that those statements never emanated from my campaign council or me. Mr Peter Obi is my leader and elder brother from Anambra Central, whom I respect and hold in high esteem. But, our political aspirations have become divergent; hence, I need to focus on delivering our presidential candidate, His Excellency Atiku Abubakar and the Vice Presidential candidate, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa, who are of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Of course, I cannot, for any reason, betray my bosom friend, Sen. Politicians pressuring Buhari to compromise February 25 poll – ASSPT alleges.

The Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts (ASSPT) has disclosed that some Nigerian politicians are putting pressure on President Muhammadu Buhari to compromise the forthcoming general election.

The group stated that the statements made by politicians suggesting that the President has a responsibility to interfere in the electoral process to guarantee success for members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) are worrisome, noting that it is the responsibility of the Independence Electoral Commission, INEC to conduct the elections.

The director of ASSPT, Dr Sam Amadi, who made the disclosure in Abuja during the weekly briefings on the preparation towards free, fair and credible elections in 2023, stated that attempts to shame the President into taking sides in the electoral process are efforts to further compromise the credibility of the elections.

According to him: “The history of electoral malpractices in Nigeria shows that it is mainly the involvement of incumbents in the process of an election that usually compromises the freeness of elections. It is a good happenstance that in the coming election, President Buhari is not on the ballot, even if his party is on the ballot.

“It rests on the President regarding a secured environment for free and fair polls. It is never the responsibility of the President to help any candidate win an election. The President does not conduct elections. No one should goad him to act unconstitutionally and undermine his pledge to Nigerians and the international community.”

He further stated: “Instead of harassing the President in respect of presumed non-support for his party’s candidate, these politicians should be pressing the President to extract implementation strategy from his military and police chiefs on how to defeat the terrorist army, insurgents and notorious criminals who would want to undermine electoral integrity through criminal actions and scaremongering.”

The group commended President Buhari for continuously restating his determination to leave a legacy of credible elections, and his steadfast decision not to interfere with the electoral process.

Also, speaking on the post-Osun tribunal decision, Amadi said: “It is not democracy for courts to determine over 50% of elections. It is a tragedy that voters do not know if their votes determine who wins the election. The court should rarely be involved in determining who becomes president, governor or legislator.

He alleged: “In the next three weeks, Nigerians are going to the polls not being sure who will ultimately be a candidate because the courts will continue to invalidate and impose candidatures.”

In his words;

“We have been looking forward to come to Zamfara because of what we are reading on social media, now we have seen that it is true. Firstly I want use this opportunity to condole and sympathise with you I know that apart from the people of Borno and Yobe there is state that suffered the loss of people apart from you as a result of banditry, armed bandits among others, we pray that God will bring this to an end, but the end of it all is if God wills it is to vote for PDP, because APC brought this evil in the last seven to eight years of its administration.
They brought insecurity, poverty, and disunity; our youth are not going to school because teachers are not paid in secondary and tertiary institution. With your vote you will expunge them. I promised to restore peace and security in Nigeria I have done it in the past I, so, see no reason why with your support and backing by the grace of God there wont be peace in Nigeria.
Secondly the people of Zamfara are known for trading, farming, rearing today none of these exist, therefore with your support we will restore all businesses, ensure that all our youth are schooling without hitches.”

We will give businessmen capital to open these textiles for job generation. We will open borders because it is not in line with the law. Our borders are closed while others are open.
They brought us abject poverty there is no justice in this. I promised under the Federal Government we will reconstruct Bakalori Dam for those farmers that were prevented from farming. Two governors in the past made a pledge to me to construct airport but failed to do it the Federal Government will assist the state to build the airport in Zamfara.”
