โWe have always been saying that members of the opposition PDP know some, if not all, of the bandits in the state; this will certainly be an opportunity for the PDP to use such knowledge positively by divulging information that will help the state.
โThe PDP and the former Deputy Governor, in particular, owe it as a duty to the state to immediately give details on this matter.
โIt must, however, be noted that banditry and other heinous crimes have significantly been decimated in Zamfara State and other parts of the North West through the sustained efforts of the federal and state governments,โ the statement read.
No fewer than six farmers and traders have been killed by Fulani herdsmen at Arimogija and Molege communities in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo state.
Narrating the ordeal, a community leader, Mr. Owolafe Folorunsho said the recent attack was triggered by effort by farmers to repel the continued wanton destruction of their crops by the herdsmen.
According to him, the herdsmen ambushed and attacked some traders who were returning to the town from Akure and killed all the occupants of the vehicle before setting the vehicle ablaze and taking their money and belongings.
Many houses, cars and motorcycles were burnt during the attack while the families of the victims killed some cows in retariation.
“The herders have continued to invade our farmlands at night, harvest our crops to feed their Cows & in many occasions, they will come during the day, forced us to uproot the Cassava by ourselves at gunpoint, command us to cut them into pieces to feed their cows,” he said.
“In order not to take laws into our hands, we reported this act of economic sabotage to the appropriate authority who took prompt action to chase them out of the farming areas only for the Fulanis to come back and attacked us with AK-47, Pump Action, Axes & Cutlasses and killed our people at night”.
A first-class traditional ruler in the area, the Onimoru of Imoru, Oba Rotimi Obamuwagun, who confirmed the invasion and attack on the people of the communities lamented over the atrocities and criminal activities of the herdsmen in the area.
The monarch disclosed that over four hectares of cassava farmland belonging to one of his subjects were destroyed by the herdsmen, saying the farm was financed through bank loan from a commercial bank.
He stated that the herdsmen, who always armed themselves with sophisticated weapons are becoming more daring by visiting homes and dragging the farmers to the farm, ordering them to uproot cassava for their cows.
He noted that apart from their cows being fed with cassava, the armed herdsmen have also embarked on harvesting other farm products to feed themselves.

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has expressed regrets over the continued silence of President Muhammadu Buhariโs administration over killings in Benue State by herders.
Ortom insisted that the Federal Government was protecting killer herders who have continued to perpetrate unprovoked killings in Benue State.
He disclosed this on Sunday in a chat with journalists shortly after he visited victims of herdersโ attacks on the Abagena IDPs camp who are receiving treatment at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi.
โThis has been my pain since 2015. I have cried out that the Federal Government is complicit concerning the issues of terrorism.
โOne thing that pains me is that these people have never hidden their intentions, and they are known. I have written to DSS, I have written to the Police, and yet they are adamant. It is not possible that the killers are not known; they are known,โ Ortom insisted.
According to the Governor, โthe day that the Federal Government wants these acts of terrorism against our people to end, that will be it. But for now, they are complicit. They are working with them to push for this countryโs take-over into a Fulani nation.โ

The once peaceful atmosphere that reigned in Osun State is fast fading away.
Osun has never had it so bad in the last 12 years and many residents wonder why the political class has failed to reconcile their differences.
On November 27, a new government was sworn-in. After 12 years in the opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) through Ademola Adeleke came to power again.
The next day, violence was recorded in the majority of the motorparks in the State.
Despite a warning from the new governor for peace to be maintained, it was observed that it was not to be as members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) struggled for control of the parks from members that identified with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The struggle for power had prevailed during the administration of Adegboyega Oyetola as it was known that political parties and successive administrations curried the support of these โnotoriousโ transport unions.

The State government and the Osun PDP has also alleged that the former governor, Adegboyega Oyetola and his party, the APC has been behind the resurgence of violence in some parts of the State, especially Osogbo and Ilesa.
They also alleged that a former Commissioner for Works in the State, Oluremi Omowaiye has been the brain behind disturbances in the Ilesa axis of the State in recent months.
Omowaiye, within the space of 30 days, was attacked twice with his supporters sustaining varying degrees of injuries within Ilesa town.
Meanwhile, the Osun APC, which lost the July 16, 2022, gubernatorial election, is finding it hard to adjust to the role of second fiddle.
Many residents have spoken out about the nuisance supporters of the two political parties are causing within Osun.
A senior police officer interviewed by this medium in the light of the attacks also supported the fact that both the Osun PDP and the APC are constituting nuisance to the society and disrupting the easy way that Osun people have been used to for years.
Traditional Rulers
Adegboyega Oyetola, the former Osun State Governor had appointed three traditional rulers, Akinrun of Ikinrun, Aree of Iree and Owa of Igbajo before relinquishing power to Ademola of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Prior to this, these choices did not sit well with the locals in these communities and many of them started to shout blue murder.
Upon assuming office, Adeleke quickly through an Executive Order put a hold on their instalment and inaugurated a committee on Chieftaincy Affairs to look into the issues surrounding their appointments.
Political thugs, motorpark management and attack on Oluremi Omowaiye
Political thugs have also been synonymous with politics in Nigeria and Osun State is not an exception.

Prior to the Osun gubernatorial election, the APC has been known to allegedly affiliate with two thugs namely: Rasheed Hammed, aka Okoilu and Kazeem Oyewale, aka Asiri Eniba.
Also, the PDP in Osun was known to allegedly fraternise with Olalekan Ajagungbade, aka Emir.
The two major political parties in the State have had cause to accuse one another of fraternising with thugs prior to the gubernatorial election.
Little wonder, on November 28, 2022, some pockets of violence broke out in some motorparks in the State.
This violence, which welcomed Governor Adeleke, caused the newest governor in the country to direct security operatives to maintain the status quo in all motorparks statewide. A life was lost as a result of the clashes.
The political parties also pointed accusing fingers at each other.
Residents react
The effect of the resurgence of violence has also impacted negatively on the residents.
Jamiu Babatunde, a businessman stated that the politicians are just trying to heat up the polity with their games.

He stated that there was no need for violence to pervade the political space because the sky is wide enough to contain all types of birds.
โPoliticians want to rob the State of the peace we have been known to enjoy. Osun is known for its โOmoluabiโ ethos but due to politics, that value has been discarded to the dust bin.โ
Olawumi Akinbamidele, a teacher, stated that both the system, the politicians, and the security outfits have failed the people.
โSince the emergence of this democratic dispensation, the peace that this State has been known for has gradually eroded it,โ he said.
Rotimi Onigbinde, a retired headteacher, was of the opinion that politicians were just making things hot in order to have their way.
โYou see, all the initial noise making is normal. They know what they are doing. It will soon cool down and things will come back to normal.
โMy concern is the destruction and loss of lives as a result of the power play going on in their camps,โ he added.

The Nigerian Army on Friday said Lieutenant PP Johnson, a female soldier abducted by gunmen on Monday, has not been released by her captors.
Johnson, a newly commissioned female Lieutenant in the Nigerian Army (NA), was kidnapped while visiting her grandmother in Aku-Okigwe in Imo State. (Watch Video Here)
In a viral video, one of the gunmen was heard vowing to deal with all serving personnel of the armed forces.
The Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, debunked reports that the female soldier had been rescued by security operatives.
โThe NA wishes to state that the information making the rounds is unsubstantiated as the officer is yet to be released or rescued from her abductors. Likewise, the video footage being circulated and associated with the rescue claim is an old video of the arrest of a suspect earlier effected by troops,โ Nwachukwu said.(Watch Video Here)
The army spokesman said her abductors still dehumanised the officer despite coming from the South-Eastern part of the country.
He also chided them for claiming to be freedom fighters, describing members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as being terrorists.
โThis evidently is another pointer to the myriads of crimes being unleashed by IPOB/ESN on Ndigbo, the very people (who) claim to be fighting for their emancipation. It should therefore be crystal clear to those who are still in doubt of the true status of these groups, that IPOB/ESN are terrorists, masquerading as freedom fighters and do not deserve the support of anyone, particularly the good people of South-East Nigeria. (Watch Video Here)
โMuch as we appreciate the concern and goodwill of the general public for her safe rescue, we also wish to note that the information on the rescue of the officer did not emanate from the NA,โ he added.
Nwachukwu noted that the โNigerian Army will leave no stone unturned in its effort to rescue the officer and bring the perpetrators to book.โ
The army spokesman urged the general public to provide credible and reliable information that could lead to her safe rescue and arrest of the perpetrators. (Watch Video Here)
German police launched an investigation into sympathizers of the PKK terrorist organization after the group staged public protests in the city of Dortmund, authorities reported Wednesday.

Tรผrkiye has long called on its NATO ally Germany to take stronger action against the PKK and its Syrian affiliate, the YPG, stressing that the terrorist groups use Germany as a platform for fundraising, propaganda and recruitment activities.
Several reports from Turkish and international law enforcement agencies have shown the group is able to finance its bloody terrorist campaign through drug trafficking in the European Union, raking in over $1.5 billion annually. Europol’s EU Terrorism Situation & Trend Report also revealed that the group maintained “an apparatus that provided logistical and financial support to its operatives in Tรผrkiye and neighboring countries and promoted its political objectives.” This apparatus mainly operated under the guise of legally recognized entities, such as Kurdish associations, it added.
With the groupโs supporters openly protesting and engaging in arson in major European cities last weekend, Tรผrkiye has been alarmed again over terrorists and their backers being free to walk the streets. (Watch Video Here)
Just last Friday, the groupโs supporters took to the streets of Paris to hold a so-called protest after a 69-year-old gunman with a โpathologicalโ hatred for foreigners opened fire on a cultural center and nearby hair salon, killing at least three people and wounding three others in an area home to a large Kurdish community.
PKK supporters gathered in the area hours later and a violent clash with the police ensued where 31 officers were injured and dozens of public properties were damaged. (Watch Video Here)

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says it has neutralised over 100 terrorists including some of their leaders in an airstrike on Dec. 20, in Borno.
This is contained in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by the Director Public Relations and Information, NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet. (Watch Video Here)
He said that the interdiction mission was conducted by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) at Mantari village in Gezuwa general area, Bama Local Government Area of Borno.
The director said that among those neutralised were terrorist kingpins Khalid Tukur, Maimusari, and Bakura Jega.
Gabkwet said that the attack followed intelligence report that a Boko Haram terrorist commander, known as Ikirima had moved to Mantari village with his gun trucks, and was joined by terrorists on motorcycles from other locations. (Watch Video Here)
โSubsequently, the authorisation for an air strike was given leading to the elimination of several of the terrorists and structures in the area.
โAfter the first wave of air strikes, some surviving terrorists found their way back to the same location to evacuate the bodies of those neutralised in the air strike.
โThis provided an opportunity for a follow-up strike on the same location which has been confirmed very successful as over 100 terrorists were neutralised with dozens said to be in critical condition.โ (Watch Video Here)
Gabkwet said that ISWAP and Boko Haram elements had perfected plans to resume active hostilities in the wake of the Yuletide and forthcoming general elections.
โThe timely intelligence received on their plans especially, their attempt to attack soft targets in Bama thus helped in the successful air strikes which has reduced their will to regroup and attack innocent citizens.
โThere is no doubt that the progress and gains being made especially, by the air and ground troops has greatly contained an upsurge of terroristsโ campaigns within the North-East zone in recent times. (Watch Video Here)
