Watch video as Kenyan lawmaker threatens to punch a female colleague..

A Kenyan lawmaker, Didmus Barasa, on Thursday, threatened to punch a female colleague of his, Esther Passaris, on the floor of the parliament.

According to Kenyans.co.ke, the parliament had been discussing the leak of an official communication involving a sex tape to the media, when Barasa, who represents, Kimilili, issued the threat.

Contributing to the discussion, Barasa talked about protecting the integrity of the parliament, in sight of the alleged action of Garissa Woman Representative, Fatuma Gedi, who has been accused of leaking to the media a letter from Director, Criminal Investigations, George Kinoti to National Assembly Clerk, Michael Sialai.

His suggestion was vocally resisted by female Members of Parliament.

After repeatedly calling on the Speaker to protect him and telling one Gladys Wanga to keep quiet as this was not her house, Barasa directed his anger at Passaris, who is Nairobi Woman Representative, who was protesting right in front of him, threatening to punch her if she did not stop.

“Honorable Speaker, I will punch this lady who is making noise to me. Don’t make noise here. What does she think she is doing? Who does she think she is? (sic)” he said.

Speaker Justin Muturi tried to intervene to no avail as members took sides in the scuffle that ensued even as Passaris and Barasa continued exchanging insults.
